So hard when someone in the family is sick

It is so hard when your loved ones get sick and have been on dialysis for life and it is 3x a week plus medicines and injections in a private hospital because the public hospitals have no slots for cheap if not free dialysis. The stress is tormenting especially now that we are in pandemic and some of our relatives have lost their jobs. My mom has a health card but there are more expenses that somehow stress us all. It looks like it will never end... Am sorry, this is the reason why I cannot respond to some discussions here. Am sorry for sharing this. Am just human....

A kidney disease requiring dialysis is difficult not only for patients but for near and dear ones. My sympathies are with you.

Thank you. It is a very expensive treatment. I know someone who lost his posessions because of that dialysis treatment.

@msdivkar Okay. This is deadly once the case gets so severe. But one can survive from 5 to 10 years on dialysis.

I don't expect too much from what dialysis can do to her. We just do our best to give the appropriate medication she needs in order to live.

having health issues is never an easy problem mentally. physically, emotionally and more so financially. Most especially if it is like that , that they need almost lifetime dialysis.

@rakski I agree. Thats why some people refuse to go to the hospital because they dont like to know their health issues. But to be honest, Covid is worsening the situation.

Your mother is undergoing dialysis? I understand the agony because it is not only the state of condition of the patient but the agony of the people around the patient.

@Janet357 my brother-in-law who is a physician has stage 4 of CKD but he refused dialysis and is on a strict diet and medication for a year now. He has lost 100 pounds and he looks normal.

That's understandable. Don't be sorry for sharing your concerns and don't worry about not responding. This is a great community where so many members have genuine concern for others. It is very hard caring for a sick loved one, especially during this pandemic. I hope that you and your family are able to make it all work out.
