Cleanliness is Next to Cleavage

The “your room is clean” seal in my hotel in Fort Wayne. Photo taken by and the property of FourWalls.

That’s what Gallagher used to say: “Cleanliness isn’t next to godliness, it’s between cleavage and claustrophobia!” Well, in these days, the hotel wants you to know that whatever cleanliness is next to in the dictionary, it’s also in your room. I’m in Fort Wayne for a golf tournament this weekend. When I reached my room I found this seal on the door, indicating the room had been “deep cleaned” and sealed after the cleaning. Not just my room, though: every unoccupied room has this on the door. I know a lot of people are apprehensive about traveling now, but kudos to Hilton for taking that worry off of everyone!

would you be offended if they deep cleaned and sealed the room in the middle of your stay? Asking for a friend...

Oh, the guy next door offended by me not taking a shower for five days? Hey, the law says once a week!

@DocAndersen — I rarely shower myself. That’s why I bought that fancy bathtub!

@FourWalls 5 days? wow, that is amateur hour! I routinely go 12-15 days without a shower!

That's nice of them. I can't quite see it in my phone, but is that a sticker? Do they stick stickers on them after being deep cleaned?

Yes, it’s a sticker. When the door is opened the sticker breaks, indicating the room has been entered after cleaning. Ideally, the person breaking the seal is the guest.

Well isn't that great? Its like those signs on wrappers that say: do not consume if seal is broken.

It is good to know. My dil is now associate general manager of the property where she works, but her head housekeeper is out with the virus.

That's a good thing to know. Some hotels/motels are not as proactive.

I’ll spend the extra money to stay at a hotel with a cleanliness guarantee. Worth it, especially now.

wow, what a nice service then. Some hotels here have very few clients. Am not sure there.

well I appreciate this idea, we need to be more conscious about cleanliness, in religious view we believe "cleanliness is a part of holiness"
