4th Of July Events

Rupert, Idaho
June 26, 2020 5:35pm CST
Will start here next week. My question is how will people follow the guidelines in a town square (park) full of people? Monday we have a picnic put on by the phone/internet company. Then Tuesday there is s Christmas in July breakfast. I think they call it that because they use the money they make for the Christmas lights and fireworks. Tuesday night there will also be a fireworks show. Each day there will be food trucks...and a free concert. On the 4th there will be the annual parade....just a longer, more spread out route. I am surprised it's still going on with the rise in cases the past week. Will we be a hotspot after the events? Guess we'll see.

I honestly hoped all celebrations would be cancelled. I know the kids enjoy but I am not participating.

I'm glad they weren't here....gives us something to look forward to. I know we'll go get some food at least. I understand if you won't and or don't want to participate.

If everyone use common sense it should not be bad.

@MommyOfEli2013 That will help. They are doing the fireworks here but asking everyone to stay in their cars to watch.

@wolfgirl569 I guess we shall see if it helps. I guess that is a good way to do the fireworks there. We will watch from my mom's house since she's close enough that you can still see them.

A lot don't use common sense though! I think they will have sanitize stations all over the park

Oh wow. As far as I know, all the usual firework shows we would normally have considered locally and in the next county have all been cancelled. But we have already decided that even if they were not cancelled, we would not go. I can't trust people in a gathering.

Sorry to hear they are cancelled though....that's awful. I understand not going, but not even having the option stinks.

So far no special restrictions of celebrating the Fourth Of July. Most likely the likely scenario will be with social distancing rules.

@MommyOfEli2013 It is the most likely scenario due to the pandemic.

That is good to hear, and that sounds fair. To completely cancel them seems unfair.

Everybody in the country is making attempts to get back to normal. I look for things to improve.

@MommyOfEli2013 Living in fear is terrible, we need to enjoy each day as before.

@kobesbuddy I agree with you on that, for sure. I am not afraid. I am afraid of crowds because of my anxiety, but not because of the virus.

Masks are not required - they say you can wear them if you choose to.

Stay safe if you attend the events, please! We're celebrating at home, no fireworks show(s) in our area.

@MommyOfEli2013 Oooh. I hope everyone continues to stay safe! And I hope you had fun. :) It's okay, we watched 'em on TV. It was kind of laid back but it was fine because I stayed up really late watching the new Babysitters Club series the night before lol.

Well we already went to one of the things, and seemed to go okay. Nobody wore masks, but the tables were 6 ft apart and there was lots of sanitizing going on. Well as long as you will have a good time celebrating at home that's what matters, right? Sorry there aren't any firework shows in your area.

@tammys85 Had fun at the show, nobody seemed to distance though. That was mostly fun. The Glad you got to see them on TV. Didn't know there was a Babysitters Club series, that might be fun

I don't stay up to date on events like that. I haven't been to a parade in decades and when it comes to fireworks I really don't care ..... on the 4th I'll be home consoling the cats who're terrified of the popping going on. My pup doesn't care about the popping as long as there is no wind.

I sure hope all these events work out normally. They plan on having a block party here on Main Street on July 3 but I know how crowded it can get so I am staying away from that

I don't think they will go normally, but at least they are still going on. Not sure how they will distance at the concerts, or the parade though. I hope the block party goes well for those who do attend

Our fireworks were canceled for this year. I'm sure plenty of people will shoot them off though. Have fun if you go to any of the events.

@just4him Glad to hear that, thank you. I just wrote about the first event. It went well, I think. That's good that you haven't heard as many as last year (well unless you enjoy hearing them but I know most don't unless they are the ones shooting them off).
