The photo of a grey fantail has nothing to do with the story.
Back in January 2019, I wrote about an old 78rpm record we had entitled ‘Kelly’s Cow Has Got No Tail’ by the Flanagan brothers. Just a couple of days ago, a new comment appeared on the discussion. It was posted by a new Australian member. She said her Dad had restored his great grandmother’s gramophone and had been searching for the record. She had also been trying to find one for sale.
I offered to give her ours. In her PM, she said she had messaged most FB record groups in Australia but most had never heard of the record, let alone had a copy. I asked how she came across my discussion. She had googled the name of the song and my myLot discussion popped up at the top of the page. Man, I am way cool!!!!
We had to go to town for milk so we posted off the record, securely wrapped, with the postal clerk adding extra packing for us. By 8 pm, the girl had deposited the postage money in our Paypal account. So it’s all done and dusted and some old man somewhere in Queensland is going to get a lovely surprise one day soon.

@DocAndersen It is indeed. And yet sometimes finding what you want can be really elusive. I guess that's what this girl was finding until she stumbled upon myLot.

That's a cool story! But a lot of MyLot stories are indexed and can be easily found via a generic search.

@JudyEv - Yeah. I hadn't thought about it either until I went searching for stuff and MyLot discussions popped out in the search results. I was surprised but then I thought ... "Hey! This is cool!"

Gee, that would be great to hear an old record play again in a gramophone.

@JudyEv you are lucky to have experienced that. Our only appliance at home during my grade school days was the transistor radio.

@Alexandoy You were only supposed to use the needle three times then replace it with a new one. we used to get fed up with having to wind the machine between each record.

That is pretty cool! I guess myLot knows what it's doing! Sounds like you're earning your keep at myLot, lol.
My sister and I had lots of kids' 78s as children. I remember some of them had pictures on them. I especially remember one of Big Rock Candy Mountain. I wish we'd kept all those things. But you know, if you kept everything you had since childhood you'd be drowning in STUFF. Then I lost ALL my stuff thanks to the Camp Fire. I'm slowly getting new records. But of course, not the 78s.
Anyway, that's nice you provided that record for someone. I'm sure it will be treasured by its new recipient.
