A young mother and her two year old child are thankful that Barry Kennon who was at right place at the right time last week when the tube that the couple was riding on was involved in an accident on the Tuckasegee River when they fell off the raft and into the rapids that was running on high water due to rains during the week. Barry grabbed his canoe to rescue the mom and her child who needed to be rescued in the rapids to safety to the shore. Both the mom and her child were shaken by the experience. They are thankful that they were rescued by Barry who was able to save them from drowning in the rapids since neither person were wearing a safety vest.

It is plain stupidity that people don't wear vests when doing water activities. The mother and child were very lucky.

You are correct since it is better to be safe than sorry when traveling in the water.

Not wearing a safety vest was foolish. I'm glad Barry saved them.

Thank goodness for Barry. I can't believe that they weren't wearing safety vests -- especially the child!

It was lucky that this man was there to save them. Hopefully this mom and her child will be more careful in the future.

It is a good thing he was there but the mother is an idiot for not wearing a life vest. Nobody should be allowed on the water without a life vest.

Wonderful for quick a ton on Barry's part. Why in the world would you not wear a vest when tubing?
