I think the job I've been the best at is falling without breaking any bones

Seriously though, I say that because I was fully prepared to work my shift today and make time and a half plus holiday pay. Now I'd be surprised if I get either one. Well maybe the time and a half but I was only there 2.5 hours. I took my break upstairs and came down the stairs fine. I was thinking about my feet which happened to be a bit sore and tripped on my shoe, I think, and down I went. I think having the mask on at the time didn't help since I couldn't see my feet. Although I've been working on walking like a normal person again with a heal to toe motioni it seems I need more practice. Still it's been a bit over a year since my knee surgery and this was the first time I've fallen since then I'm going to guess that in the past twenty or so years I've fallen at least fifteen times although I'd have to try to remember all of them. I have been a tad concerned about falling on my new knees but they held up fine so I think I should quit worrying. I've fallen from stepping into a hole in the ground, from forgetting someone had a sunken deck, on the ice bear my house a couple of years ago. This time it took place at work and that makes three times there for different reasons. The picture that is on the left I think is before the stitches and the other one after getting the three stitches. Has anyone else fallen more often than you like?

@amitkokiladitya was it when you weren't paying as much attention while walking or something else? It would make more sense if I fell at home because I have too much stuff. I'm working on clearing it out but with covid that showered down the process and I am a bit lazy to which doesn't help until recently anyway.

@MarshaMusselman I have to use a cane when I go out for a walk now. I didn't get my hip done and now my knee on the other side is giving me problems

Yes it could have been much worse. If like to say I'm done falling buys since it's a thing people tend to do as they get older I can't guarantee that too myself. The cane helps me feel more stable at least.

@jaboUK your not too old to have more surgeries, Janet. My aunt had her first hop done at 91 . She's now 103 or 104 and had slowed down but did well until she got a UTI and didn't recover from being confused it so I think. Unless she's in a place for her safety.

@MarshaMusselman My worst fall was when I run to close a windows because of a thunderstorm and there was already water on the floor. I landed on my back and it was painful for several days.

@LadyDuck ouch, that sounds awful, Anna. I'm sorry that happened to you. You probably don't run to close windows anymore do you? I fell on my ramp one November when I was late for work from oversleeping. It was frosted and I didn't realize it. One leg went in front and the other in back but still I didn't break anything.

I hurt a bit more after I went home from emergency and have felt new places that were bumped but nothing but my face is bruising so I think I'm good there. I hope this is my last fall of this nature, but I think it's more common with the elderly. I'm going to do my best to better stay in my feet.

So sorry about you falling a lot, I do the same also. I have to be very careful and watch the floor or ground when I walk or I will trip on something. How was you able to post 2 pics side by side? I been looking for a site where I can do that, any suggestions?

The collage pic is from an app on my phone. I've found that not all apps are available on all phones so you may not be able to get it. It's called Polish. I'll try to get a pic of the sites after work or another day.

@gr8nana6 I think photoscape is one Anna told me about years ago for the computer. You could look for that.

I'm sorry that you fell and hurt yourself, but glad to hear you are okay. Now you'll have a little battle scar as a souvenir from your fall! I've had a few falls in my life, but probably nothing out of the ordinary. My amazing talent is walking into walls; I seem to be drawn to them like magnets! haha

@MarshaMusselman I like to think that it's not me who walks into the walls, but the walls who jump out in front of me to try and block me. They seem to do that often.

@moffittjc I understand totally. That's what it looked like when I fell this time because I thought I'd be able to find my footing again. Instead the floor looked to come up and hit me in the face.

I've walked into walls before too but I don't get too bruised from that.

I haven't fallen much lately, but the last time was going up the stairs. That hurst when I landed on both knees on the tile floor. Ouch to your chinI. I can see how stitches were needed.

Your trip before falling doesn't sounds fun either but then no fall is fun.

That's quite a fender bender!! I hate getting stitches. I am a huge whimp when it comes to needles!!! I have had my fair share of falls. The last one I had was when I was dehydrated and passed out in the hallway. It woke Little Miss and my husband. My husband had to help me up because I was dizzy and a bit weak from being dehydrated. Little Miss offered to "help" me up, lol. So, needless to say, I am trying to drink more fluids during the daytime.

Oh wow that’s awful you needed stitches. I hope it doesn’t scar. I wouldn’t have thought that a mask would hinder us from seeing where we walk but I probably don’t look down to realize and don’t wear one much.

I wear one everyday at my job and when shopping there in off hours because people know we work there. I began taking my cane to work too make sure I don't fall again at least until I'm totally healed. I'm not worried about any scarring. But the stitches should mean any scarring will be less than if no stitches were done.

@SHOHANA I'm sure you'll do fine. Do you realize I was joking a bit about falling being my job. But if I'm falling so no one he d to ever she again then that's different and a bit weird.

I have a deep fear of falling cause of my cruddy knees. Once I am down, it takes a super effort to get me upright again. Putting weight on my knees is just about beyond my pain endurance. I broke my collar bone when I was a kid. I have fallen a couple of times in the last few years and totally alarmed myself and my husband. I hope you stay okay.

I hope that you are able to fall less as you get older, Lenore, rather than more. Maybe we can all encourage each other to be more diligent in seeing what's around us and then if you believe in God, for him to cover when we don't realize a fall is imminent.

My lord Marsha, I know you try to be careful but you gotta be even more careful, you're collecting battle scars, lol. I fell last week. My grandson was pulling me along to 'come see grandma'. I didn't hit the floor but I hit my dresser and banged my arm a bit. Scared me a little more than I like to admit.

The falls I had prior to me turning sixty caused bruising and while scary at the time didn't make me wonder if it's be falling more as I get older. Now I realize I need to change more things. I don't have control over whether I fall again or not, but I do have control over what I believe. I am going to believe God to protect me not only when I'm driving but when I'm walking too. There's nothing he won't do for me I just have to ask and expect to receive. I just do needed to be smarter and continue my practice of walking the way he designed which will eliminate me catching the toe of my foot on the floor.

That was so unfortunate, wasn't it. I had a few falls in the last half of the year, but nothing serious, my legs just gave way suddenly. A family friend advised me to take pills for Magnesium & iron etc. (I try to take the pill which has almost everything every - now and then.)

I don't think my falling is lack of a supplement but I'll ask my Dr in case that would help, thanks.
