How you are paying the bills nowadays || 5% transaction Fees

July 5, 2020 2:37pm CST
Since due to Covid19, our all services are asking for online payments and we don't have Cash on Delivery option at all. Power/Electricity Bill Water supply Bill House Tax Phone Bill Internet Bill TV Cable Bill Even E commerce websites like amazon are not accepting COD. These above listed service providers are using costly gateways due to which we have to pay 5% transaction charge extra. Are you doing online payments ? I heard for some value gets auto-debited from bank account directly ( Though do they charge any transaction fees for it ? )

We do some online payments and the rest are payments taken from my bank account. Payments online and direct billing from my bank account don't get charged an extra fee. I've never paid any bills COD. I do pay my rent with a check that I drop into the payment slot at my realtor's office. She doesn't charge me an extra fee, either.

I usually try to use UPI whenever it is possible ( though we have restriction over the no. of transaction per month. And they can charge me after 30 transactions or so). But some portal doesn't give us any option other than pay 5% transaction fees to proceed. How are you doing ?

I have never paid a utility bill in cash ever. All my bills are on direct debit from my bank. The only time I ever use cash is for a takeaway I collect and that's getting rare too as noone wants cash these days. Within the next decade or so I could see the UK becoming cash free.

We already use online payment even before the pandemic. For regular bill, I set auto debit and it's without extra fee.
