My favorite dance competition is cancelled this summer

One of my favorite shows is a dance competition called So You Think You Can Dance, which airs on the FOX channel in the US. I was really looking forward to watching the new season this summer but then the pandemic hit and the season was cancelled. I guess there was no way for them to do the show while still social distancing everyone and being safe. I am majorly bummed that it is not on. Would have been great if they had at least re-aired episodes from past seasons. I hope the cancellation of the current season doesn't mean that the show is cancelled altogether. Were any of your favorite shows cancelled because of the pandemic?

I love SYTYCD too. I know how it went with American Idol . . . but I couldn't see that kind of format for a dance show like SYTYCD. I honestly don't know how they are going to film any more "new" stuff . . . eventually the pre-pandemic stuff will be aired - and then what.

@lovebuglena Right . . . there are a lot of close interactions with dancers - no way to social distance. Yah, I don't know how they're going to work that out . . . it's really a sticky situation for much of the entertainment biz. I had been watching World of Dance, but I guess that was wrapped up before the pandemic hit. I read that DWTS was being produced with care - whatever that means.

Now I don't watch the show but I wonder how DWTS is doing. Sure you can film that without an audience but you can't social distance dancers.

SYTYCD was supposed to be season 17 this summer Now that it has been cancelled due to the pandemic, when the show returns I wonder if it will be called season 17 still or if it will season 18. And I wonder if the people that already auditioned for this season will continue on when the new season starts or if they will have to re-audition.

I've never seen a sewing competition on TV. And I do not watch dating competitions. Not for me. As for cooking shows, I love watching Chopped. Also, Master Chef and Master Chef Jr and anything else that has Gordon Ramsay in it.

I'm sorry. So many things have been cancelled. Soon, there will only be repeats on TV except for the news. All our favorites are cancelled.

Haha. I've never entered a dance competition. I love to dance but I would not say I am an amazing dancer.

Some of it got cancelled, some others just started again For example football just started again, but without fan on the stadium. The crowd really make a difference. Lets hope that we all can overcome the pandemic though

The energy is not the same when there are no fans. But as they say... the show must go on!

I'm a bit surprised that there aren't more reruns of some of these popular shows.

So many shows have been cancelled. I like reality shows. I'm sure some of those will be cancelled unless they record it themselves. Some shows are doing that. Sorry that your show is not going to be on.

Yeah. American Idol and The Voice were shooting from home when the shows went live. It wasn't the same as with a live audience but better than no show at all. I know AGT were shooting part of the auditions without an audience. Not sure what they did after the audition process was over. I don't really watch the show. Just watch videos of performances online.

You will probably have nothing left to watch from the recorded shows.
