Well, I have my first sunflower of the Summer now. It showed some yellow two or three days after I took the picture in my previous post, and was in full bloom less than two days after that. I hope its siblings bloom soon. It would be fun to have a bunch of sunflowers on my balcony at the same time. Got any pretty flowers to show us? I'm looking for beauty in these odd times.

I guess there are different sunflowers but yours doesn't have black centre. Now I think about it, lots of them don't.

My hunch is that that happens as the seeds (in the center) mature and dry up.

@TheHorse Good point. That could certainly be the case - and I guess in the agricultural world, there are several varieties of sunflower.

@JudyEv Probably. If I get seeds from the one that has blossomed, they will be small. I should dry them and then plant them next early Spring.

Your sunflower made me smile. I agree, we need to find things to smile about and enjoy in spite of the virus.

@TheHorse There's still a lot of beauty in our world, but it's hard to notice when you're wearing a mask. I love when our cat Gracie sits close to wherever we are when we're outside. She doesn't want to be held or petted, just wants to be near.

Good for you and your sunshine bloom! I have shared many blooms here. Still have some blooming now.
Was out taking photos of my pirate day lilies and realized when I uploaded the photos, there are blue toes in this photo. Oops! Oh well, that can be my...

I just shared my first one a couple of days ago. Have a huge one that I am waiting on. I had to tie it up today. It is so heavy and tall that it was leaning way down

My pansies are looking pretty scraggly as well. But they've been with me for a few months.

In the area where I live there are many fields with sunflowers. Passers-by are allowed to cut some off and are asked to put some money for them in a tin box standing at the edge of the field. And people do that!
