The Nervous Breakdown that made this washcloth

Ok so that isn't completely true. I mean, I didn't have a nervous breakdown, but I was pretty anxious last night when I first tried to crochet with a hook (again). This isn't actually the product of that. This I made today. I did make a mistake or three, and I ripped out a few and re-did some, but some of them I just left. I think it's pretty good for my first (again) time using a hook. I had to learn to hold the yarn again (thank you youtube) and realize that it actually feels better for me if I loop my finger around both my pinky and my index finger. Did I mention that I absolutely love this yarn? Cuz I do! Last night I tried to start with a granny square. Even though I know how to do the stitches that comprise a granny square, I wasn't holding the yarn right. So I decided to just do rows, and that wasn't working for me so I gave up for the evening. I know I need to get more comfortable with holding my yarn and using a hook before I go with the granny square again.

Thank You. I just love the color of this yarn so much! I think I've seen it used recently in a stuffed animal on one of the reddit groups I view.

@thelme55 Oh, that would be such a cute pull over I think. I've seen a lot of different clothes crocheted lately. I don't know if I will ever be as good as that.

Decades after making a granny square afghan I tried again and couldn't get the hang of it. I gave the yarn to Goodwill. Glad you are enjoying crocheting.

I am sure someone was thrilled to find it on a goodwill shelf! Thank You. Yes I am glad I am enjoying it too. It makes me feel closer to my mom, and I just shake my head and think "Really Amber, you should have tried this more years ago!"

@LindaOHio Oh very true! My mom spent several years doing just that. If it wasn't crocheted, it was soaps or candies.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Enjoy! And you can make some memories for someone else by giving them a gift of your handicraft.

I do too. It's a cotton yarn from Hobby Lobby brand. I do think I've seen similar colors in other brands though.

Thank you. On the top left corner, I missed a stitch for several rows. I was going too fast then I think.

Beautiful piece of crochet work so far. I like YouTube too. There are so many venues for learning various skills. I often check out videos pertaining to things done on computers such as if I'm unsure about functions for an app.

Ah yes! Anything you can think of and it can be found on youtube. I also like that there are so many options for the same piece of information. So if one doesn't work or is confusing, you can go to another video and try it.

That is the completion. I just have to weave in the ends, and maybe make a border.

Its look very nice and while doing starting time may some mistake happen but from it we can learn and you did really well. I am sure with more work you will be more perfect and more accurate.

Sky is the limit where youtube is concerned. I really love the colors too. Just enough brown for contrast but not enough to distract the eye from the pretty blues and greens.

Thank you. I had to learn to crochet via youtube videos. I tried years ago with a written pattern and I had problems with tension and with forgetting a step when single crocheting.

SOrry I don't know anything about crochet but you really need a lot of patience when using this delicate stuff

Yes you do. If you work too fast you can break the yarn.
