Time for a tasty snack

I am feeling hungry so I think I will go make myself a bowl of blueberries with sugar and sour cream. I may add some strawberries as well. Perhaps I will have some Goya Maria cookies on the side. They go well together. It's a really tasty snack and can be pretty filling. Minus these cookies, this is something I've been eating since I was a kid. Back in my birthplace of Minsk, Belarus we had wild strawberries and that was my favorite berry to eat with sugar and sour cream. Sadly, they don't sell this berry here in NYC, though I've seen it growing in upstate NY. Have you ever tried blueberries and/or strawberries with sugar and sour cream?

That must be a Russian thing, because my grandmother and parents always served us blueberries or strawberries with sour cream. I don't think they added sugar. I've eaten wild blueberries in upstate NY right off the bush when we visited our sister-in-law's and brother-in-law's country home. I don't think I've ever seen wild strawberries. Enjoy!

@lovebuglena I don't eat white bread. I do love fresh rye bread, though.

Perhaps it is a Russian thing. What also goes great with that is some fresh white bread.

I eat blueberries and strawberries every day, but I don't add sugar or sour cream, I usually just mix them together in a bowl and eat them. Sometimes I'll mix in some Greek yogurt, but mostly I just eat the fruit plain.

@lovebuglena I love whipped cream. That sounds good on top of a bowl of fruit!

Some people put a dollop of whipped cream on top. No way Jose. I hate whipped cream. I sometimes add the fresh berries to my cereal.

It is not. The blueberries have to be firm and not mushy. I hate mushy ones.

If only they were sold here. I've seen an Italian cake for sale that is topped with them. That is my only option. But it is very expensive.

Wild strawberries would be good to see. I didn't know they grew wild anywhere.

It's a different taste than a regular strawberry and the berries are very small.
