Our Mayor Attacked

The US Constitution guarantees the right for people to peaceably assemble. What happened to Louisville’s mayor last week wasn’t “peaceable.” Greg Fischer, Louisville’s mayor, was attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Portland section of the city’s west end for a new apartment complex. About 100 protesters began shouting for Fischer, a three-term Democratic mayor, to resign and accusing him of hiding evidence in the Breonna Taylor death in March 2020. Fischer tried to have a dialogue some of the protestors, but they wouldn’t listen. They followed him to his car, the blocked the car from leaving. Some protesters hit the mayor’s car with their signs. The police had to open a path for Mayor Fischer’s car to leave the area. A local TV station’s coverage:

Arrest them all as rioters, that was not peaceful protesting by anyone's definition.

I agree; however, the mayor sort of brushed this off, as if everything would've been fine had the cops not been there.

@Namelesss — my brother jokes that, to him, “BLM” stands for “bike lanes matter.” (He’s spent a lot of money putting bike lanes in and taking car lanes out in downtown Louisville.)I don’t think he’s a very good mayor. I’ve met him a couple of times at the Hike, Bike, and Paddle fitness events that the city puts on, and he’s a nice guy (great pickle ball player, I found myself teamed with him one morning! ), but I think an overcooked hamburger left under a heat lamp at McDonald’s is a better leader.

Anyone doing this should be arrested - but how do you deal with dozens of them?

There is no reason to act this way. If they want to protest, fine...but don't block his path or hit his car.
