Improving and Innovating

I shared about my new "sour dough" recipe the other day. The bread came out kind of "meh"--not real impressive. I had an inspiration, though. And I must have mixed it differently somehow, or my starter has matured. The dough itself rose really nicely this time. Anyway . . .I decided this would be awesome cinnamon raisin bread, and it is. I divided the dough in half. Stretched it into a large rectangle. I spread it with butter, sprinkled on cinnamon sugar and added raisins. Then I rolled it up, pressed the seam down on the bottom and folded both ends under, and let it rise again. It came out very nice. Tasty and tender. Any leftovers or ends of my bread adventures will become a bread pudding.

I am supposed to feed hubby extra all the time, but it is not the best for me. It tastes wonderful, though.

@GardenGerty I lost quite a bit of weight when I was first married as Vince was a much smaller eater than me and I wouldn't serve myself more than I served him. lol

@JudyEv I was losing weight before I met Bob, but he wanted to make sure I ate. I had seven people living in my house at the time, also.

@GardenGerty I do too but have never really cared for cooking, although I did cook when I was raising my kids. I prefer baking.

I am liking this starter recipe a lot. I still want traditional sour dough as well, but this has great potential.

I have occasionally treated myself to the Thomas or Pepperidge Farms cinnamon swirl loaf. This is just as good at about 1/4 the price.
