My breakfast is back in shape......

I am enjoying my delicious breakfast of dhokla ( an Indian dish from state of Gujarat) with spicy mint and coriander chutney and sweet and tangy tamarind chutney Dhokla is steamed batter of Bengal gram powder, semolina powder mixed in curd. It is yummy and quite rich in protein. So a healthy and yummy way to start your day. And the best part is it being quick and easy. So becomes perfect breakfast item for weekdays when morning is in rush. My neighbor had borrowed my dhokla stand in February. But then she forgot to return it and went to her native. She got stuck there due to lockdown and has returned three weeks back. But as a rule here she was home quarantined for three weeks. When her quarantine got over, she left it on my door and rang the bell. I am glad to get it back. In the meanwhile, I made dhokla twice in my other steaming vessel used for making idli( another Indian dish from southern part of India). Though the taste was same, the shape was different. We eat through our senses and so shape and look of dish does matter I have my online classes starting in some time and that will keep me busy till 1:30 with two small breaks in between. I woke up at 5. I am done with all morning chores, cooking breakfast and lunch, morning yoga and meditation and my shower and pooja( prayer and lighting of lamp). Now I am enjoying my breakfast . Will catch up later with my notifications. Hope everyone is doing good. Enjoy mylotting! Picture is of my breakfast

@cmoneyspinner California, NY city and some more parts of US have quite a good number of Gujarati origin people and many would still be making and relishing this and similar dishes!

It is a common Gujarati breakfast. Very common to state of Gujarat and Maharashtra in India. Might not be so well known in other parts of India.

It is quite easy to make. If you do not have dhokla stand, it comes out well in idli stand too. I made both imli chutney as well as green chutney.

Yes, looks like a spongy cake but this one is spicy, sweet and sour. It is a blend of various taste. You can see those green chillies that make it spicy and hot.

I always say that we eat through our senses and our visual sense is quite active. The look and feel of the dish is so important.

I had to wait a long due to this pandemic crisis. Glad to get the dish in the shape that it is supposed to be. I guess look of the dish has a psychological effect on how it would taste.

It is not bitter..it is a mix of spicy, sweet and tangy. Actually the dish itself is salty and bit spicy with the seasoning of green chillies. We add lime juice to it and the side dishes of chutneys make it more flavorful.
