Talk about a role reversal in life. 16 volunteers who work with the Wasdale mountain rescue team in England after getting advice from a veterinarian on how to rescue a 121 pound Saint Bernard named Daisy who due to pain in her legs was not able to come down Scafell Pike which is the tallest peak in England. Daisy was traveling with her owners down the pike when she could not walk anymore due to her aging body not being able to walk anymore. The owners of Daisy managed to get some assistance from the mountain rescue team who spent five hours using a stretcher to take Daisy for a ride down the pike to her owners after she was given a meal to make her feel better for the journey. Daisy is in good spirits after she was reunited with her owners on Saturday. The rule of life with Saint Bernard dogs is that they are known to rescue persons in trouble.

They are magnificent dogs. I’m so glad it was rescued, but that poor dog should not have gone on such a long hike.

I agree with you since Daisy seems to a dog that is up in age based on what I saw of my late dogs when they are up there in age.

@DianneN I know what you mean since it was sobering to see my last dog not being able to walk in her senior years.

I am sure that Daisy will be able to walk again even though she will likely be doing shorter walks this time.

@Deepizzaguy I can certainly understand her having shorter walks.

Oh, a St. Bernard is a huge dog. This reminds me of our 13-year old do who is slow in walking because of age.

I think her owners were a bit inconsiderate in taking her so far up the mountain.

I'm so glad they were able to rescue Daisy and return her to her owners. Maybe they won't push this older dog to walk further than she can manage next time!
