I found my slippers

We attended a Hindu wedding in Nepal in January. It was cold in our hotel room and I bought myself some indoor knitted slippers. They had a light rubber sole and a fabric lining. When we arrived back in Australia, it was summer and I didn’t need slippers. When the weather changed I couldn’t find the slippers despite a thorough search for them. However, when we went looking for a backpack to take away with us last weekend, I found the slippers in the front pocket of the backpack so they are now helping keep my toes warm. Do you wear something on your feet in the house or just go barefoot?

@marlina Goodness! I wrote 'were' instead of 'wear'! (Corrected now). It was already midnight. One should go to bed at that time and not write nonsense for all the world to see.

@DocAndersen I understand. Socks can be slippery on wooden floors.

I try to go without socks as much as I can and sit barefooted the floors are not very barefoot friendly.

@JudyEv The floors here are given a very polished finish so they are not feeling very friendly at all to the feet sort of like putting your feet on plastic yuk but much more friendly than all the waxy stuff they used to put on floors so there is that good side to it. I am trying to find a friendly pair of crocs and believe you me its not easy to find a pair that lets your feet breathe.

@lovinangelsinstead21 They can be hot in summer for sure. Mine have holes all over the top but are still hot in summer. I usually switch to thongs (flipflops) in summer.

@CarolDM Vince has orthotics and if he doesn't wear them, his feet reallyl start to hurt. The orthotics stay in his crocs which is good but they are a bit hot in summer. Obviously orthotics won't stay put in flipflops.

@JudyEv I fully agree, the floor is never 100% clean, I never liked to walk barefoot in the house.

I'm glad you found your slippers. They should keep your feet warm. I only go barefoot when I have my slippers off to run to do something. Otherwise, I wear house slippers or house flip flops all the time indoors. I can't imagine getting into clean sheets with dirty feet.

I used to wear thongs in the summer. You called them 'thongs'. Mostly Americans giggle if I use 'thongs', It seems flip-flops is the more common name.

This reminds me of my missing ATM card that was in the pocket of my jacket. I used it for one night only and returned it to the closet. I only found it when I got the jacket for the laundry after a week.

Socks are pretty good too but they are better with a bit of a sole of some sort or the bottoms wear out quickly.
