If I ONLY post a PHOTO,...

..will you be able to know the real meaning behind it? When teaching online, I noticed that slow learners can understand the lessons easily with visual aids. Sometimes I do not need to ask a question or two. With the exemption of students who are imitating all my words. We often called them 'parrots.' Do you think using photos instead of words will be noticed by you? Image Credit: qph.fs.quoracdn.ne

I totally agree with you. I honestly can say that it is tiring to keep on talking when teaching this kind of student.

Only a picture may not work but learning with picture may be interesting.

At some point, we need to show the photos with simple details. At least, we can able to gauge how far the students can learn the lessons.

@Shavkat That's what I meant, Some detail with the photo will go well.

There are visual learners who need to see something so that they can associate it with that picture.

@Shavkat It depends on the student. Since you're doing a one on one tutorial, you need to try what works for every student.

I agree. My company added up the usage of body language. I find it useful, but not for all students.

I was a teacher and found that visuals did help all children, including my learning disabled students.

I salute you for teaching disabled students. I haven't tried it. Although I tried a student who has a learning disability and it is hard to teach him. But I tried my best to handle him.

@Shavkat Thank you! Most of my students were learning disabled, but they gave me every student imaginable including a principal's autistic son.

I am grateful that some students can do this. For naughty ones, I just ignore it since they are not into learning.

It is well known that humans remember better a picture than a word. This is why I always suggest to people NEVER to change their avatar, I remember avatars here, but I often forget the users names.

I am not good at memorizing names, too. For me, I tend to inform everyone that I need to change my avatar. If they do not mind about it, I just let it go and build a rapport again and again here.

@Shavkat I definitely give priority to those notifications (or posts) where I recognize the avatar. Those who often change risk to lose "audience".

I think so an image or video can reveal many things that words alone cannot. That is why they are used most often. Also they are easy to understand.

I will not argue with this matter because you said it on point. Learning is a two-way process and having visual aids are a good tool for students to learn.

It is more ideal if we can use short video clipping to see the actions. However, it is not ideal for teaching online because time is limited.

@Shavkat I find if someone explains something so I can understand it then they do not need to use a photo.
