Rainy season is over in Kyushu

Japan

I wish I was in Kyushu! Usually I would be there at Sakurajima, but not now. However, the fact that south Kyushu's rainy season has officially ended means we're not far behind. Usually about one week after theirs ends, so does ours. It is the third latest finish for Kyushu in recorded weather data. During the rainy season Kagoshima City received over 1500ml of rain! But it's going to be hot and humid, so I don't know that they have gained much, other than being able to see the sky and the mountains. (That's important.) Can't wait till ours is over.

Sakurajima is an active volcano in the south of Kyushu. I volunteer as their English translator at the volcano museum during the summer (when there is not a pandemic).

@petatonicsca Most typhoons pass through the Philippines going to Japan.

I'm quite ready for it to stop. We will have typhoons come September or October, just like you.

It sounds like the season stops quite suddenly. Our seasons tend to merge over some weeks.

@petatonicsca The world is a fascinating place, isn't it? So much to learn.

Yes, it's estimated when the rainy season front moves up. I think it moves suddenly because we're an island chain and in between Siberia and the warm western Pacific. It changes suddenly in the winter as well.

@JudyEv I grew up in the middle of the North American continent. Unexpected and extreme weather was frequent. Here we don't have the extreme heat or cold but we sure do have humidity.

At least they're predictable. Toward the end of summer we have evening rains called "yuudachi".

Humidity is a pain. As my friend used to say, "even my eyelids are sweating."

When theirs rainy season ended, you'll be the next to experience rainy season. Is that correct?

No, I will be the next for it to finish. I am still in the rainy season.
