Pretty Purple Pansy

Sharing a pretty purple pansy from the garden with you. I like to use these flowers as a border around the edges of the garden. Many different colors look nice as well. I have yellow, orange, purple and burgundy. These are tiny blooms but can withstand bitter cold and heat. Many will plant these in the winter. They are very hardy flowers and can survive many types of extreme weather. I saw a PBS documentary awhile back and the flower expert said that the name pansy comes from the French word pensée which means thought. The flower is a symbol of remembrance. I found that information very interesting.

What a stunning purple ! Pansies seem to be a popular pick out our way - maybe they do well in our heat. "Remembrance" - that is lovely - and they do seem to last .

That's a very pretty photo. Do you know of a good and pretty ground cover that spreads quickly?

@LindaOHio No, we just have grass. Then I have mulch in the garden. Some around here use phlox. Maybe this will help.

I love pansies too, and have some purple, white, yellow and burgundy coloured ones. I bought a pot of them when it was still quite cool out and I know that they will still be blooming come October. I think that they are edible aren't they?
