Since I am living in Florida I found it interesting to discover that there are some unusual things to see which tourists might not consider as an attraction. In Jacksonville, Florida you’ll find a huge oak tree in the Southbank area that is called the Treaty Oak.
Now I would love to see this tree because I fell in love with oak trees in Latvia. Somehow they seemed to emit such strength and somehow attract me. In my area in Florida, I mostly see palm trees. Anyway, the Treaty Oak is about 250 years old and it was preserved in 1995.
To this day the oak is kept in good condition and people look after it. This very big and important tree the Treaty Oak dominates the area in which it is located.

This really is a unique and strange looking tree!

@RasmaSandra That's really cool! I'm so glad that the tree has been around all these years.

@simone10 I got the answer online
In the 1930s, the name and history were created by journalist Pat Moran of the Florida Times-Union. In an attempt to rescue the tree from being destroyed by developers, he wrote an article claiming a treaty had been signed at the site by indigenous Floridians and early European settlers and called it the Treaty Oak.

I've visited the Treaty Oak in Jacksonville. It's as magnificent as the picture makes it out to be!

I love those photos of the mansions in New Orleans with driveways lined by large oaks @CarolDM

With the reach of the branches this almost looks like a banyan tree. so are there banyan trees where you live in Florida since there are palm trees? I don't know cuz I've never been to Florida but I know Hawaii has both and I fell in love with the banyan tree they're very distinctive and different they're all different but you can kind of tell what they are when you see him.

To me it looks like a slide is coming out of it and going to the ground.

It looks a bonsai tree in the picture but it's not. We have a more than century old acacia tree.
