Summer and insects perfect together. Not! Anyway, I thought you might find these bug facts of interest. Here are two species with some unusual characteristics and behaviors. FLY Flies are such an annoying insect species. They are really persistent when it comes to landing on your food. There are some natural remedies to get rid of flies. One is cinnamon whose smell flies absolutely hate. One thing I did not know about flies is they use their feet to identify and taste food like sugar. I've often noticed flies rubbing their legs together when they land on something to eat. Whenever they walk on food they use their legs which contain chemoreceptors for taste, in combination with their foot pads. Now that's some nifty footwork! LADYBUGS The majority of the species are generally considered useful insects, because many species prey on aphids or scale insects, which are agricultural pests. These pesky little guys always use me as a landing strip whenever were both taking in some sun at the beach. And apparently they can bite humans although they prefer not to bite. Another thing I noticed is that ladybugs take up residence in my home come Autumn. It seems they are attracted to light colored houses and homes with significant sun exposure. And a Ladybug can float/swim in water by paddling. But the most interesting fact I found out about ladybugs is they have been to outer space! Now that's really traveling Did you know all these insect facts? Any fly or ladybug stories to share? Thanks for reading! Source- Wikipedia

I hate flies. While living on Guam the island seemed overrun with them. They had the audacity to try to fly up my nose. I did not appreciate that one bit.

Not too long ago I found an article about ladybugs being of 2 separate varieties. The ones we usually get here are not the biting kind but the ones found in China and who've been transported here do bite more often than not.

Very interesting post. Flies are so annoying. Remember when the Asian beetles invaded us? They came by the hundreds and got into the house. People confused them with ladybugs. Have a great weekend.

@dgobucks226 Thank you. You too. The bugs are prolific this year in our area because of the mild winter that we had.
