Oh, no, they scream, she’s going country! Yeah, there are some country songs on these lists of songs that date back 40 and 50 years. This one, from 1970, however, probably doesn’t sound like what you think of when you hear “country music.” And you know who this guy is, at least....so here it is! Amos Moses - Jerry Reed I was surprised to see that this, not “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot,” was Jerry Reed’s highest-charting song on the Billboard pop charts. You’re probably surprised that this is “country.” Yeah, I know. That’s one of the reasons it crossed over so successfully. The late, great Country Music Hall of Fame member (who should have been inducted long before he died in 2007) went to town with a swamp rock tune about a Cajun who hunted alligators illegally. And, as JJ and I have discussed before, that’s not TIPPY TOE, Louisiana. (Thibodaux is the actual name of the town.) My Dad listened to these songs. I know Thibodaux well. A friend works on an oil rig, I often took him through the town to catch his ride.

All it makes me think of is "Moses Supposes" sung by Donald O'Conner in "Singing in the Rain"!
