Covid Made Us to Spend More

After months of being "locked" at home, I always sigh at the thought that Covid 19 made us spend more money on almost everything! For one, you have to use more sanitizers like alcohol, lysol, chlorine, etc. to totally be safe from infestation; also detergents for washing clothes you used outside, shampoo and bath soap because it is safe to take a bath immediately after getting outside. One need hair conditioners, lotion, etc. that one usually put on the skin to prevent skin from dying up or cracking because the virus might enter the body through it. Also too much time is spent doing all those disinfecting chores, plus one have to make a lot of food deliveries for fear of going out to the grocery or to the market to buy food. So much so if the member of the family who has the quarantine pass is so tired to run errands or the family is also protecting him/her from being so exposed outside and get the virus. The virus made our lives miserable! I just do not want to vent the blame on people who made it spread through their too much politicking, lousy type of governance!

It's good, because you will not be exposed to the virus by not getting out often.

I think the pandemic did not really make me spend more, it made life simpler with lesser shopping and going out and dinning out, we also held my daughter's debut at home instead of renting a place and a lavish party that we had planned about a year ago.

I've tried my best to avoid going to the market now because they failed to sanitize the place including the disinfectant booth despite of the two covid19 incidents there. Blame game won't get us nowhere now, we just need to be cautious.

It is not just blaming; it is just asking for good governance; proactive measures to protect people's health.

I haven't spent more money. On the contrary. My neighbours are so kind to shop for me, too. I don't have to go to the supermarket. So. I'm not tempted to buy things I don't need.

I think we spend a little less than what we used to before the pandemic. Before, when it's my mother who spends the money sent by my sister for their needs, it's always short before the next remittance. But now that I am the one who budgets and buys for them, they still have cash on hand when my sister sends money again. I think it's because I only buy what they need and no more dining out and going to other towns... It's also the same with my own budget. I get to save more now because I can't go out of town.

can't help chuckling at this! it must be a relief to your sister. so what do you do with the excess - do you carry it over to the next month or deposit as savings?

@hereandthere my mother keeps the excess in the envelope... Then I give them a new envelope when I withdraw their money. I also keep a record of all the expenses so that if ever they will ask me where their money went, I can show them... hihi

In March, we bought a refrigerator so that we can stock food here at my apartment. So far, I can save on daily fares since I only work at home.

Yes, you are right. We are spending much more for those things. However, we have also saved oodles of money by not going our to eat and shopping for clothes and silly things like that.

@acelawrites It is easier for us. We live several hundred metres from our neighbours so we don't need to keep sanitising unless we go out.

I spend less this pandemic. We plant vegetables in the pots. CDO has very few case yet people don't stay foot even in this new normal. We need to help the government, and not to blame. Corona virus is attacking the entire world. Those hard headed idiots surely get the virus.

We only wanted the government take a proactive, scientific way of fighting the virus. If the did early contact tracing when three people first got infected, then it would be a different scenario now.
