Tragedy Chez Horse

Before heading to Montana, I asked Horse Jr. and his mom to water my plants. Several I placed near my front door, and some involved green bean vines, and even two sunflowers, that had woven their way around my balcony lattice work, and could not be moved. When I got home from Montana, the plants hear my front door were doing OK (a little droopy, but alive). But all of the ones on my balcony had died. My friends had forgotten to water the balcony plants that could not be moved. I didn't say anything about it. I just replanted my corn green beans and sunflowers out there. I see little corn plants poking their heads through already. Have you ever had a friend "let you down" when they said they'd do favor for you? Photo is of my first balcony sunflower before its untimely demise.

How old is Horse Jr.? Probably his mom should be in charge of the plants. For how long did you stay away?

@TheHorse Then it is Jr´s mother´s fault if you asked her. He is too young to take care of a plant for 2 weeks.

@marguicha She is the one who is on the edge of sanity. I worry about her...and by extension...about Horse Jr.

Yes, I asked my father to put our dogs outdoors and back indoors for a week(but DON'T feed them). My son lived at home and was feeding the dogs. When we got home, they had run out of dog food. Our animals had been too well fed, four times a day!!! Thanks Dad!

@TheHorse Our dogs (already fat and lazy), ended up gaining weight with smiles on their face!

I'm sorry that happened. Once I paid a friend to come help out the cats while hubby and I were away. We came back to find all the water pans dry. I'd put extra out and still, all dry. (Cats get ill quickly if they do not hydrate.) And that was with pay.

@TheHorse I was pretty angry when I saw all the pans dry. Cats are ordinary and everywhere but they have touchy kidneys.

Wow. I'm glad they survived. I was going to joke about "at least it wasn't cats, dogs, or horses," but I won't joke about it now.

Maybe your neighbors had forgotten about it. Some people tend to return favors done for them when they need it.

As I've mentioned, I worry about Horse Jr.'s mom. She believes in colonies in Mars, denies the moon landing, etc. That makes me worry about Horse Jr.

I bet Horse Jr. was the laborer, and that he was distracted by his video games.

Sunflower, What a beautiful flower. What was the reason behind its demise?

Many people simply forget their promises because they get occupied with something else that matters more to them. That's a beautiful sunflower photo!

Thanks. Interestingly, Horse Jr. and his mom recently left for a five day vacation and asked me to water one of their plants. It became my top priority and I watered it three times a day. I like to keep promises first and then worry about my own stuff. My own stuff does not suffer in any way.

Leaving these things to others often fails to bring out the best results. And well, we cannot blame them directly as well, as they could feel offended.

That is sad when someone let you down. I hope my plants in the balcony are still okay and watered by my husband while I am away. You reminded me of my sunflower which was about to bloom a few days ago.

What a shame! All your hard work gone. I'm sure a friend has let me down in the past; but I can't remember anything at this moment.

Oh, that is really upsetting. You put so much work and time for growing them and all in vain. People can let you down sometimes, that is a fact. Though it tries our patience and teaches us to forgive their mistakes
