Boiling water

Evidently we have a water main break, in our quadrant of the town. They will shut off our water tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. until it is repaired. Meanwhile, as a precaution, the entire town is under a boil water order. I already have some gallons of water that I have stored for an emergency like this. I am boiling more water right now and filling up jugs. I have also put some pitchers of unboiled water in the bathrooms for flushing and hand washing purposes. I will be at work most of the day tomorrow. I hope things go well for the repair crew. This seems to be one of those years for small and large disasters both.

I hope it's repaired by the time you get home from work. It's good you're prepared.

Hubby says if it was off it was not off for long. He was home all day.

It's good you have some water on hand. It is awful to be without any.

I carry water in the vehicles as well. Just so we always have some.

@GardenGerty It's a good idea. We went out the other day and thought we'd be a short time but ended up being out for much longer - and we didn't have water with us. I won't do that again.

My water tastes bad, so I always have a couple gallons around, thank goodness.

My older sister, who lives in Kansas, says Kansas water tastes bad and she misses Oklahoma water. To me it tastes musty, but it is drinkable.

@GardenGerty I can drink the water at my dad's house if I need to, but I think the pipes in my apartment do something to the water that makes it taste weird, and bad.

They seemed to get it done quickly.

They shut our well off twice already this year for repairs. I'm ok with it as long as I have time to get jugs ready and fill some buckets for toilet flushing. Hopefully it won't be off for long.

That can be frustrating. It seems that old lines break as much in summer as in winter.
