I HATE My CAT

This morning, I am having my hot cup of coffee when seeing my lost cat Shadow next to our house. I am calling him and he did not recognize me. I was about to catch him when the neighbor's toddlers are running towards him. What a waste of effort! Then, he runs to the opposite side. It is impossible to run after him. I cannot help to think that he is a dumb cat. Now, I am having a second thought to have another cat in the house. Are cats dumb? Why he cannot recognize me? Image Credit: miro.medium.com

Maybe your cat just wasn't ready to come inside. They can be very independent.

I think he is scared of me because I have long hair now. I agree that he is an independent cat. He was out of sight for more than 6 months.

If you changed your hair may be he could not recognize you and the toddler running scared him for sure. You need to be patient with cats, talk slowly and keep a lower tone of your voice. He surely remembers that that place is his home, he will be back.

@Shavkat So this is not the house where he was born and grew up? This is a problem, even if he recognizes you he is scared by the new places, he needs to feel confident. One of our neighbors moved at the end of July, they now live 2 km from here. They brought their 3 cats, one of the cats escaped and he comes here. I am feeding him, he does not want to stay in the new home.

Cats are just independent animals. Once they found a way not to depend on their masters they will try to stray away and be independent. Unlike Dogs are more loyal to their masters they would stick to you one the bond is established.

@Shavkat I guess the cat still recognizes you but it prefers to have a different lifestyle to follow and not depend on you anymore.

I had learned that he can live without us. I am still glad to see him at random. It is a sad thing that he is included with stray cats in the neighborhood.

Put the food on the bowl and let him come back to eat it when he's hungry. Otherwise, buy a big cage and keep him there.

It is my plan to put him in a cage. It's my mistake that I was not able to give his favorite cat food.

Some get very scared when they get outside and go wild.

I think he really got scared when we move here. It is a new neighborhood for him. He ran away because my younger was not able to put hin in a cage early this year.

Cats may not be as responsive as dogs . They take time to become friendly but are not dumb.

I think he is the tamest cat in the neighborhood. Even before he was lost, he cannot glimpse when being called.

Cats are smart animals, you should have kept some food for him as a welcome instead of calling him.

It's really frustrating. I tried my best to bring him back to the house.
