Up, Up, And Away

There are far too many times in life I feel like I have to say, "Things like this only happen to me." But surely this is also just a matter of perspective. Things happen to lots of people everyday, so really I am just singling myself out most of the time. That being said, a lot of things DO in fact...happen to me. Long story short, I have been wanting to get a drone for some time. But being I am cheap, I have not gotten one. So, my wife bought one for me. A little stunt drone she got at Walmart for $25. I unpackaged it, looked it over briefly, took it outside, turned on the remote, set the drone on the patio table, hit the button to fly it, and it whizzed away up into the air. I tried to control it, but I had not read the directions. It went up, and up, and up...higher and higher. It became a blob then a dot, then a spec, and then it was simply gone. I stood there dumbfounded with the remote in hand and a drone that is probably now being picked up on radar by NASA... And then got yelled at by my wife for launching my drone, which I had for all of two minutes, into the atmosphere.

Oh no, well if it doesn't come back you can read the instructions and then maybe get another one. Or better yet...…….check the lost and found for your city.

Maybe you should have read the directions. Or watched a youtube video showing how to operate that kind of drone. That was some stunt that it pulled.

If only I knew that the "stunt" part of the drone was to vanish.

@porwest That is pretty clever of it. You set it free. It has been sitting in the box forever dreaming of flying wherever it wanted.

@akalinus That's a nice (and very funny) way of looking at it.

That was a short-lived bit of equipment. I hope you enjoyed it. :-( Try and have a good day. Maybe you will find it some day.

I think it is somewhere in orbit. That thing literally went sky high and disappeared.

Well, at least you don't have to return it for not working Kind of like getting a kite caught in the telephone wires or worse...having the string break on you. Same result, you no longer have your toy

Well, I hope you can find it somewhere nearby soon and it's still working fine. So the moral of the story is read the instructions first?

That could happen to me if my wife bought me one. I also wanted a drone but it is expensive so I don't buy even the cheap one.

If you ever do get one, reading the directions before trying to fly it is HIGHLY recommended.

Typical. You need to read the directions. You might still have it if you did.

Oh nooo! Haha! It is why manual is very important. However I'm not reading manual I just tried it immediately after getting it from the box and learn while using it

Reading the manual would have saved me $25, saved me a lot of aggravation, but would have left me without a funny true story.
