Dude Brought Me A Gift Inside

Was sitting here on the computer just now. I can see the screen room from my chair. I noticed the Dude started running in circles chasing something. And all of a sudden he caught it and inside the cat door he came. He brought a lizard to me. He sat it down at my feet. As if to say, just for you Mom. I quickly chased it down, literally running through the house, chasing the Dude, chasing the lizard. Finally got the critter in a cup. Took it outside to let it free. He survived. The funny part is Brendel also had something she found in the screen room that was moving. It was the lizard's tail! Oh my gosh, too much excitement in one day. Funny how some cats will bring you their gifts, others will keep them to themselves without sharing. The photo is not the actual lizard, it all happened too fast for photos.

What a fun chasing day! How did you put the critter in a cup? I would have run away and let my hubby deals with the critter.

I caught him on the rug, and slid the paper cup underneath him and then a top on the cup.

Oh, what gifts! My late grandmother's dog used to bring her gruesome gifts like birds and squirrels. She would call my uncle to take care of the gifts.

Since these cats don't go outside, thankfully I don't get the large gifts.

That sounds like you had some fun chasing the cat who was chasing the lizard. In his defense, he could have dragged home something worse to drop at your feet-good kitty that you didn't.

@CarolDM I wonder what would cause the lizard to come so close to the house. Is it really dry that he would be seeking something to drink maybe.

@caroldm Ours bring us mice, rats, frogs and squirrels. One also used to leave a smelly, swirly, brown message on my side of the bed every evening and that's when she became an outdoor cat.

I used to have a cat (MommaKitty) that brought me mice too. But thanks to the screen room all I ever see usually are lizards. The two cats I have now don't go outside, they only get a critter if it happens to sneak into the screen room.

It's funny how they lose their tails in moments of stress. How nice of the Dude to gift it to you.

When a cat brings you a gift, it's their way of saying, "I am master of this domain, but out of the kindness of my heart I allow you to live peacefully along side me and share my home. I give you this peace offering to show that I approve of you living in my inner sanctum." haha
