We are not really that old but most of our nephews and nieces got married early the had their own kids so we hubby and I are already grandparents in an instant!
We are living next door with my sister-in-law whose eldest son is a single father. He has an 8-year old daughter who I thought lacks attentions from all of them. I took the initiative of tutoring the kid while classes are not yet open. I pity her so much that I really want to reach out and help her.
So far, she is a fast learner although she has trouble reading English. I tend to focus on that so she can catch up when the classes finally resume. She will be on her 2nd Grade.
DO you also tutor?

@DianneN I agree. Things are not easy now for teachers. I am also looking forward to my retirement. Have a nice day.

@cherigucchi Not at all. Teaching isn't what it used to be like. I had more meetings than I had teaching at the end of my career. I love being retired. I did enjoy it and my students.

being able to read, write, do arithmetic are the least we can do for every child. it's good she's a fast learner.

No. We sent our kids back to school when they opened back up. The socialization is good for them. But we have a second grader too.
