Day 22 Promise 477 Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. People run after whatever will bring them riches and glory. They will do whatever it takes to gain whatever they want. Jesus told His disciples that those who ran after the riches of the world would lose their souls. He told them if they were ashamed of Him, His Father would be ashamed of them. As Christians, you are not to run after the things of the world but after the things of God. When you do, God will give you the desires of your heart. It isn’t wrong to want nice things and want people to like and admire you. However, it is wrong to want those things above your relationship with Jesus Christ. Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV) Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (KJV) Mark 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, 30 But he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. (KJV) When you put God first in everything, you show you are not ashamed of God and what He will do in and through you. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Put God first and watch Him work in your life. Let’s pray: Father, help me look to You first in everything I do. Let Your Word be on my lips and in my heart as I go about my day.
