Yesterday I probably left you wondering what I like better than Gordon Lightfoot’s masterpiece tune “If You Could Read My Mind.” Putting the top three of this countdown of songs that are now fifty years old into an order was TOUGH....and, if I were to do this again in six months, the order might be changed. That’s part of the beauty of the magical year 1970 in music. So sing along with this timeless classic. #2: Lookin’ Out My Back Door - Creedence Clearwater Revival Oh, yeah, like I was going to leave these guys out. After counting down my favorite CCR songs? And using this song every opportunity I get? Ha! There’s not much to say. The fact that this song is known and loved today, half a century after it first came out, says plenty about its staying power. And the fact that my dear mother of blessed memory loved this song says something about its appeal. Classic rock at its absolute finest. Lookin’ Out My Back Door Written by John C. Fogerty Recorded by Creedence Clearwater Revival From Cosmo’s Factory, 1970 Listening to Buck Owens (always love using the color version of this video, because those shiny red pants Fogerty’s wearing are good for a laugh!):

This is a great choice and surely one of the best known rock songs out there.

@TheHorse — my favorite CCR is the B-side of this single (“Long As I Can See the Light”).

Not one of my favorites, but a solid song. They're from here in the Bay Area, even though they sound like they're from the South somewhere.

Yeppers. I remember this one. But If You Could Read My Mind (and other Lightfoot classics of that era) are magical. By the way, I heard you talking in your sleep last night.

I remember this one too and was looking out my back door. I learned small towns have neat views of looking out the back door. Big towns all you see is concrete.

@TheHorse Amen a, Calli may have a lot of concrete but still can see the pretty Mountains and the beautiful sunsets. No where on earth is there a place like this, have everything in one package. To bad it attracts everyone too. No its Kansas I tell you, come on that was a good one.

I couldn't believe it when my Retina surgeon didn't know who they were, he's at least 40 so I figured he had to have heard of them. This is one of my favorite CCR songs, along with many others of theirs.
