I came across this hilarious title today after doing the same thing a couple of times. I do burp on occasion if I have an excess meal. But I would like to know how common is burping among mylotters. And if they have any funny incident related to burping, they might share that too..

I think it's something we all do every once in a while.

It would be unnatural not to burp now and then.

I guess everyone burps and it's natural to do so. But excessive burping can indicate some health issues and definitely one at wrong time and wrong place can be really embarrassing.

@Sojourn It's good. But for some it can be real problem especially in old age. We should be considerate about that.

most 'nterestin' topic. i belch, not burp. very 'nladylike, but 'tis somethin' i've not control o'er. seriously, 'tis very loud 'n there'd be no way to 'hide' such. most likely such's due to the crohn's disease. quite some years back, i'd gone to church with my dad back'n the hills. a tiny church'n a tiny community. a 'full house' 'twas 30 folks, no more'd fit. anyhow, the preacher'd called fer silent prayer 'n jest out'ta know where said belch 'rupted, echoed 'cross the pews, rockin' the windows. my dad'd not missed a beat. said, 'pardon her, she swallowed a bull frog last night 'n he wishes to 'scape'. all laughed 'til tears rolled down their cheeks.

Burping and farting are signals that the digestive system is at work.

It is natural we most of burp after lunch and dinner because we swallow air while eating.

I enjoy burping, especially with friends during sports, but I generally don't do it in public. Are there "conventions" about burping loudly in India?

Sorry for the late comment. No, burping loudly at home is OK but in public it is equally frowned upon here.

@Sojourn Thanks for the information! Out of respect, I'll refrain from chasing down that older fella who burps loudly as he passes my house in the evenings.

Burping happens if you eat fast or have cola drinks.
