Wow, it looks like Hillbilly is going all prog-rock on y’all! In addition to my favorite 40-year-old song being from a band long considered prog-rock, lookie who’s at the top of the list of songs that are half a century old now! You’ve waited all month for this, and here it is!
#1: Question - Moody Blues
My brother’s favorite band. With songs like this, can you blame him?
(Funny aside: my supervisor at the squadron in Norfolk was also a massive Moodies fan, and one day our “daily meeting” consisted of a detailed report of the previous evening’s Moody Blues concert at Hampton Coliseum!
)
The most overlooked band in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame history (it’s criminal that it took as long as it did for these guys to make the Hall of Fame), the Moody Blues go back to the mid-60s (when future Paul McCartney & Wings member Denny Laine sang lead on their hit “Go Now”). Their history includes classics like “I’m Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band,” “Nights in White Satin,” “Your Wildest Dreams,” and “Ride My See Saw.”
But for majesty, in my opinion they never topped this tune. Few people have.
Thanks for going on this month-long journey with me!

Yes.
And you know Elvis was a big fan of theirs.

I love this song very much! The track "Moody Blue" was released as a single in early 1977, the album was released in July 1977, which was Elvis' last album w...
