Blame JJ for this one. He said he was waiting for me to use a song by someone, and that inspired this countdown: ten songs with “hey” in the title. Hey, hey, hey, it’s the first song on the list!
#10: Hey Baby - Ted Nugent
This song reminds me why I don’t care for Ted Nugent: he can’t sing for crap.
(Like I’m an opera diva.
) Ted apparently knew that, because he used other vocalists on his albums (including, believe it or not, Meat Loaf on the Free-For-All album). This is Derek St. Holmes, the song’s writer, doing the vocals.
No, I don’t care that much for Nugent. A friend, however, went to see him in Dallas years and years and years ago, and said he put on a fabulous show (came in, wearing a loin cloth, swinging on a vine
). His politics have nothing to do with it, it’s just generally not my kind of music. But every now and then a hard rocking ditty will strike my fancy.
And this one did.

Yeah, me too. It's funny how acts you generally don't like cam come up with that one song that you do enjoy. I feel that way about the aforementioned Rush and "Tom Sawyer."

I'm a huge Nugent fan, but I will admit he can't sing worth a crap! haha I have seen him in concert several times, and he always puts on a fabulous show. I've also been bow hunting with him once before with my dad back many years ago. He just seemed like a great, normal guy.

Ted impressed me a long time ago. He was on the Robert Klein Radio Show, and the question came up about his divorce. Klein said he’d read that the children lived in a home full-time, while Nugent and his ex rotated in and out every month. Nugent replied to the effect, “I feel when two adults make the mistake that ends a marriage the last people who should suffer for it are the children.”
Of course, later in the same interview he said about his new band, “I just threw a hunk of raw meat on the ground and the first four guys who tried to eat it I hired.”

@FourWalls I'm glad him and his ex-wife were able to put aside their differences to make sure the needs of their children were met. Kids need love and support from both parents when divorces happen.
Yep, that would be something old Ted would do! haha

I hadn't heard this one before. It's a rockin' tune. I love it.
