I took a sound nap of 45 minutes on my couch. Now I am feeling much better. My husband has given me a hot cup of almond milk and I am right now sipping. He has back to back call and that's nice of him to offer me that
He will not have a break to cook lunch.
My elder one has already helped me with floor cleaning and mopping and washing breakfast dishes. I would not like to ask her for more help. She has her exam tomorrow. Younger one has school for another hour.
I will just get up and cook something. The spinach leaves are cleaned and in fridge. I can just fix quick lunch of chapati( Indian bread) and dal palak( lentil soup with spinach) after I finish my almond milk.

@LadyDuck Even in my family. Mom was a single parent, working and independent. We needed to pitch in and it really helped the whole household. And even in our growth and life skills. Even my husband grew up in a household where each one had work to do. We both followed the same for our children.

I have always involved my family in chores. I and husband have made that kind of environment where you have to share responsibilities and help when anyone in family needs help. My children grew up doing age appropriate chores. So they do it whenever they can.

@arunima25 I agree! Now that are sons are grown and have homes of their own, they are capable of taking good care of their needs and that of their family.

@DianneN You are so right! We were brought up like that. We have to imbibe these things at young age to become a part of us. And our children learn the best way by living it and doing it. No preaching helps.

We have to bring up our family that way. Else one member might get fully consumed taking care of everyone and everything. That would not be fair.

That's what I feel family should be about... Taking care of each other's needs and sharing the load. I am glad that I and husband have made a environment like that in our house.
That helps me survive with job, chores and even take care of myself.

@JudyEv It came natural to us as we both grew up in such middle class household where we had load to share. And we felt that it benefited us and our life skills. So we followed the same. Children saw it from very beginning and got used to it naturally. Yes sometimes we have to give space to teenage tantrums

He is very balanced with his approach. He makes sure that everyone's needs are met in family and lady in family should not be consumed taking care of everything. Children grew up doing chores from young age and so they are used to it now.

Yes a simple lunch. I made little extra to have it for dinner too. We will have the same dal palak with rice and potato fry. My husband can make rice and potato fry.

Thanks dear. We have made a rule to share responsibility and take care of each other. And accoomodate others needs when we have to. Husband is very helpful and we share our work load. Else I would not be able to manage everything.

It was simple, quick, healthy and yummy. I made little extra to save us from cooking dinner. Husband is making hot rice and potato fry to go along with it.
