Sweet doggy randomly showed up at my door....

So a bit over a week ago, my dad and I were in the lounge room watching TV and Charlie (our dog) was whimpering and barking at the front door. I stood up to check what was outside and was taken aback when I saw what Charlie was looking at. It was this medium sized dog. Was not expecting to see him at all. I noticed he didn't have a collar on and started to worry if he got out of his home / backyard or worse, he was abandoned. I spent some time talking to him through the door wondering what to do. Eventually, after getting up the courage to walk outside and realising he was extremely friendly, I led him inside my house and then into my backyard so he was safe. I called for a Ranger and when he arrived I told him I was going to post about this in some Lost & Found Pets groups that I'm in but told him I wasn't comfortable sharing a description or photo as this dog literally had no identification on him. No collar, no tag and no microchip was located. I was worried that me giving a description would give people a chance to pretend to be the owner and take the dog. The Ranger told me my thoughts were on point as people have tried this technique many times to take pets that don't belong to them to keep or sell. I explained this over and over in the groups yet a small handful of people were complaining. "If it was me I would post a photo!" Or "Just post a photo so the owner can see!" I explained again that I didn't want to do this. What I did do was ask "Has anyone lost a dog in (name of my suburb)." I got a lot of "Thank you's" and "Good job" comments but the rest was doing my head it that I broke and said to them all that it's ok they would do something different but I am personally deciding to do it this way. And that I had the heart to take a random dog into my home and did / doing whatever I could to help locate the owner/s instead of just letting him go onto the streets with a chance of being hit by a car. I also explained that their words were starting to make me feel like crap when before I was feeling like I did a good deed! I also said "Not to be rude, but if you have a problem with this, then please call the Ranger as I am doing exactly what he told me to do." Anyway, long story short, I found the owner! And I explained to her that I hope I did the right thing by her by not posting a photo or giving a description. And she said "You absolutely did the right thing!" So I felt better about that! This dog (Tiki) was so adorable and friendly! Seriously a sweetheart and I was happy he came to my door so I could help look after him and find the correct owner!

@Timex123 He is very cute indeed. Saliva falling from their teeth? Do you mean from a specific breed?

You helped the dog a lot! The owner should be grateful to you. We do not have such Pets' services, although we now have more individuals and NGOs standing up for animal rights.

No good deed goes unpunished, they say. You did the right thing. No matter what we do in life, there will always be naysayers and "Negative Nancy's."
