He Arrived Bearing Gifts

Our son stopped by for a visit bearing gifts. He gave us a few gourds from his garden that he grew with seeds he saved from last year’s gourds. They are my first autumn decorations. He also gave hubs his Fitbit, which my husband had given him, because he bought himself and his girlfriend newer models. My Fitbit is on its last legs, so hubby exchanged bands and I now have a better one. We spent over an hour on the deck talking, birdwatching, and belly laughing. I love it when he stops by bearing gifts or not.

What a blessing to have a visit so fun. I'm staying at my son's while on fire evacuation. We have quite a few laughs here. He's fixing dinner and it smells so good. Pork loin, fancy rice something and butter lettuce salad.

@DianneN It's scary and overwhelming. My daughter got a suite for her family plus my other daughter and family. I was to go too but decided to stay here and we keep three of the kitties and one dog here. They have six cats and two dogs there. Yep. We are a critter household. She went to check on the horses/donkey where we evacuated them too then to the houses and found both still OK so far but just extremely smokey and no power. It's still on level 3.

@noni1959 The smoke inhalation is very serious for humans and animals. Hope you all remain safe. Prayers and thoughts going out to you all.

You are blessed to be able to stay with your son. Must be so scary, Loretta dealing with those fires. Our son is dining on our favorite rooftop restaurant with his girlfriend and friends. We are home.

His presence was gift enough, but now I need to find a place out of the sun to keep them. Warning! Don't try growing these at home!

@DianneN I guess our stores call these mini pumpkins . . . the gourds here are the warty kind of ones . . . so funny how different regions call things differently (I talked to a grocer once about the differences between yam and sweet potato - depends on where you are he said).

@changjiangzhibin89 I think he feels that way, too, but we tell him it's not necessary. I guess it's just in his nature to be like that. He picks up groceries and odds and ends for us when he's out shopping and refuses to take money from us. I pretended I wanted to give him a dollar bill, and gave it to him folded up. It was a hundred dollar bill. lol

Our pumpkins are much larger, but any are nice to see this time of year. He is such a loving son. He tells us how thankful he is for all we've done for him over the years and wants to do nice things for us now that he can. Amazing!

That is so nice that you and your sons still get together often and enjoy special moments. That is what family is all about. I hope you are able to continue doing that many, many years into the future. Love the gourds that your son brought you. They are almost perfect!

@moffittjc Even he doesn't know. All he knows is that it's creepy living in the house where his cheating, liar of a wife used to live. His girlfriend is creeped out, too.

Thanks. The Fitbit was my husband's old one, but mine broke from overuse. I may or may not wear it, but at least hubs changed the bands on it for me so it fits.
