My Keto Journey

Well.. I guess you could say that it's just starting out. I'm trying my best to stay with keto as much as possible and it really isn't too hard. I don't really like snacking, so I just have to focus on the main meals. I stepped on the scales this morning and over the past two weeks I've lost around 8 lbs give or take. I think that's good since there have been days when I've slipped a little. I'm trying to walk around more as well and I've started recording what I eat in my fitbit app. Three of my friends are doing this as well, and two of them are doing better than I am. My goal is to make this a lifestyle change. I am just counting carbs and not all the macros or anything like that. I need to make a trip to walmart to pick up a few things I know they have that my local grocery store does not. I also need to make a trip to Aldi's at some point.

Good job on your progress so far! Do you have a total weight loss goal you are shooting for, or is it more like just lose weight in general?

For now it's just losing weight in general. I have a weight that I want to get down to, but at the moment I'm just trying to lose a few lbs.

I missed this post, but I know we've talked about it in other posts. That's great to hear, and best of luck on your journey. I have already really messed up on my restart....but I will get back on plan tomorrow.

I think it's good to have people to talk to who can boost you up. Right now it's myself, my friend and her husband, but our other friend is trying too. She just struggles with the cravings for other foods still. We all bemoan the fact that lots of the foods are so expensive.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes I agree with that; that's why I come here to talk about it...that's great you have them doing it with you. That struggle is such a hard one. Oh yes....the foods do cost quite a bit more, sadly. Well, certain things at least.

@MommyOfEli2013 Have you tried thrive market? You have to have a membership, but I've seen they have some good prices, especially in shirataki noodles.

Your are making progress, I know how hard it is to stick to good eating I had lost over 25 pounds from stress when my mom passed, stepped on scale yesterday and gained 10 of it back, it comes and goes and comes back for me.

I tend to be a stress eater, so for me it's more like gaining or staying consistent. Now I'm just trying to lose it.

Good luck, I've been doing it for over a year but I'm not always good or I'd be losing faster. It would be easier if my husband didn't bring the goodies into the house. I don't eat all of his but then but my own sometimes. I think I've lost about twelve to fifteen and hoping for ten more.

That's great! It is definitely not easy to avoid the temptations sometimes. My friends and I do a cookie day for Christmas each year, but two of us have already said that we want to do keto cookies and desserts. It's going to get pretty expensive pretty fast.

@MarshaMusselman A friend uses those quest bars and occasionally gets the slim fast fat bomb bars. I've only seen them sold as single bars, but I know they sell them in the boxes.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I began doing quest bars for snacking and they are expensive but not much more than boxes of cliff bars and similar sugared snacks. My favorites are the caramel and white chocolate raspberry, both yum. I'm also feeling for the oat meal choc and since I like mint the mint bars too. There's a few I don't care for but you might.

Thank You! it definitely is. I am hoping that it will help me with my hormonal issues too. I think it should since I've cut out so many things already.

Yes it is. Humans are meant to eat loads of sugar and carbs.

Wow, that's really working well for you! So essentially it is high protein / low carbs?

@ScribbledAdNauseum This pandemic helped us to get away from restaurant food period - can you believe we have not ordered or taken out food since March? It does make a difference to cook/eat at home too - control the ingredients. Ah . . . but hard to beat real pizza!!!

@much2say We did a lot of home cooking for a couple of weeks but ultimately the other two can't live without their precious fast food... So I just go along with it. We started ordering from one of the restaurants we used to frequent twice a week and ever since this pandemic started, our orders from the place have never been completely right.

I am still learning about it myself, but essentially. Staying away from carbs and sugars and all those types of things. I still do fast food, but I do no bun and no sauces. Eventually I'd like to steer away from fast food all the time.

8 lbs is a great start to your journey!! I am a snacker and would find keto difficult. I have decided though to cut back on my carbs especially potatoes. I love potatoes
