Gonna try showering in the basement

My parents called in a plumber to come in tomorrow and see what's causing the leak in the kitchen ceiling (the bathroom is above it) and hopefully fix it. Of course, it won't be fixed tomorrow. I am assuming that tomorrow he will just take a look at what's going, assess what needs to be done, and tell us how much it will cost. In the mean time, since we cannot shower in the bathtub until the leak issue is fixed, I am gonna attempt to shower in the basement. We have a shower there. The shower just has the shower head. There is no hose. And the water doesn't come out of every hole in the shower head. Also, when you open the shower door water leaks onto the floor. Not looking forward to showering there but I guess it is better than nothing. At least I will be clean. Now my hair is a different issue. It's been over a week already since I washed it last. I need to wash it. Not sure how that's gonna go down. I have to find some way to close the drain otherwise all the hair that falls out when I wash it is gonna go down the drain and may end up clogging it. I don't want that to happen. I am wondering if putting a bathtub mat over the drain will help with that.

I have washed my hair in the kitchen sink before, so you could always do that if necessary. Is the drain recessed? Is it small enough that you could use the kitchen stopper?

I ended up washing it in the shower. I put the bathtub mat over the drain. Picked up a lot of hair from the mat and around it when I was done. Hopefully, none went down the drain.

I hope the leak will be fixed soon. Our drain always stops the hair from going down. I hope you can solve that problem.

The guy came over and replaced a few parts (not sure on what they are called) and installed a new shower and seems no leaking in the ceiling.

@LindaOHio Hopefully, this was the only issue causing the leak.

I'm sure the leak will be a simple fix. Try washing your hair in the kitchen sink.

I washed it in the shower, placing the bathtub mat over the drain. I hope none of the hair went down the drain. I picked up a lot of it from the shower floor and the mat when I was done washing. The guy came and removed the thing from the wall and some other thingy from inside the wall and replaced them with new ones. And he installed the new shower. Everything seems ok for now with the leaking. He also fixed some other issues we had elsewhere.

I'm sure you'll be really pleased to get your shower fixed. We love our shower and are always pleased to get back home to have a really good shower.

@lovebuglena All good news. I guess the first thing you did was wash your hair.

@JudyEv No. I washed it yesterday in the shower in the basement, not in the main bathroom that was causing the leak and where the new shower had to be installed.

The new shower was installed and the guy fixed the issue he found. So far no leaking. Hopefully, that was the only thing that was causing this and there will be no leaking from now on.

At least you have that extra option. Hopefully, it is nothing major and it is just a simple fix.

The guy fixed what needed to be fixed and ran the water and so far there is no leaking. I hope there was no other problem and there will be no leaking for good. Parents will have to fix up the ceiling though at some point.

The plumbing issue has been fixed. The ceiling itself will have to be fixed at some point.
