What makes you think that people do not read signs?

I was not paying attention to the car that was parked in our one and only spot for the building. The guy from the car came walking down the street and asked if there was a problem. He was not wearing a mask and I moved away so he would not get close to me. I will not be by those that do not wear masks. I told him there is a sign. The sign says the number of the building and I got the feeling he read it, but, probably did not care. Why do people act that way and not care and not respect other people's things?

@Hannihar In my country the police are not well paid. And teachers are not well paid either. That does not help.

sadly many're very self-centered'n thus feel those signs don't 'pply to 'em. we get that here'n the u.s. quite oft. folks e'en takin' handicapped parkin', with the claims 'f "i was just running into the store briefly, what's the big deal?". the big deal bein' that they could'a parked 5 spaces o'er 'n let folks'n need get that space. the same with masks - doors've all signs such's to be warn, most don't coz 't aint 'nforced. pitiful, the societies'n which we live, where others've no regard.

There is one in my building that parked in a handicapped spot outside our building and the police must have told him he needs something to say he has the right. Yes, people do not think they apply to them and when you tell them there is a sign then sometimes they let you know they saw it or those that play dumb.

They do not listen no matter how many times you point out the sign and how they parked. They do not care. Thank heavens one family I had nothing but trouble from moved.

If there is only one spot for the building, who gets to park there? I assume there are more than a few people living in that building, so where does everyone park, and who is the lucky person who gets that one spot in front of the building?

It is a spot for cars from the building. People when they see it emptyt like to try to put their car there unless they see I am watching them. People that visit use the spot too. There are those that park on the sidewalk if no where else to park or park behind the car there and block the way for people to get by or for me to get in and out. I have put notes on cars. There are some cars that park there that get there first and one that does not know how to park in the spot at all.

Who gets the spot is whoever gets there first from the building. Some think it is ok when no spots around to park on the sidewalk and others park in other spots down the road.

You are very right. They will not listen and putting notes on their cars I am sure will help and they may say that they understand but they do not and do care. It is my problem and mine alone because they do not care and will do what they want. I want the signs to stay up for my protection because then they cannot say there is no sign.

They do not care and have done that for a long time. Even people here do not read the sign or know how to park their car. The bully above me loves to take my signs down and he is working on trying to take that one and one on my scooter down. There is no one to complain to.

@Hannihar Thank you Hanni, she is ok for now. She doesn't know how close the fire is to her house, we can't tell her because she will stress over it. She was visiting my sister when the fire started so we tell her she can't go home because the smoke is not good for her breathing

@Hannihar It's almost impossible to never have such people around you....You won't know by face till you get them on your heels....Happened to me alot since I was too shy to refuse with a louder voice

When it comes to signs people just don't think it applies to them. Whether it's a no smoking area, walking dogs or riding bikes on the boardwalk which happens frequently in my town, or not wearing masks in public areas signs are ignored. If it is an inconvenience then people will act like the sign is not even there. Plus police are lax on enforcing minor offenses and people know it.
