September 16 - What I'm Thankful for Today

Today was a very good day. I'm thankful for the pre-op appointment this morning, though I'm not happy I lost another quarter inch in a couple of weeks. The measurement came to 4'9.75". The rest of the appointment went well. The nurse did an EKG and checked the strength in my arms and legs. She was satisfied. They also found a large wax buildup in my right ear and flushed it out. I'm thankful for my son who unexpectedly brought home the best hot dog I know. Even a day old, it tasted awesome. He got me a cheese dog with fries. I asked him about getting me one yesterday, but I didn't expect he would. He's such a good son. I'm thankful he has the day off again today, so I still have the car. I need to get it back to him tomorrow after my Joint Camp appointment. That one will be for three hours, I think. I'm thankful the car control was an easy fix at AutoZone. The battery wasn't sitting properly. It stopped working yesterday after I brought the groceries in. I'm also thankful they didn't charge me anything for the easy fix. I'm thankful I have all my fitness goals met today. I have almost 19K steps today. My exercise minutes are 121. It was a very good day. I'm thankful I got the notifications finished earlier. I visited a few of you and learned about your day. I'll be getting them finished again before going to bed. I'm thankful for the work I did on Vendetta. I'm still working on an important scene in the book. Once I get this section reworked, everything should fall in place for me to finish the novel. That's my hope. I'm thankful the maintenance guy came and put the cover back on my A/C and changed a lightbulb in my office so I didn't need to get on the stepstool to do it. Okay, that's been my day. What are you thankful for today? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. The Botanical Gardens.

'n that fella 'twas helpful'n we'd a nice lil chat whilst waitin' fer pages to load. seems they've some troubles with net speeds these days, too. thankful fer ponies that still whinny't me when they know i'm outdoors :) 'lways warms my heart to hear that.

@crazyhorseladycx Actually, it was interesting. I didn't even nod off, which I will do if something is dry and uninteresting. That seems odd about the phone. Ponies to the rescue.

It was three hours of talking, first about the therapy, and then the surgery. Thank you. I'm glad you like the pic. I'm so glad you had a guy with a sense of humor taking care of your needs. So glad the ponies know when you're around and give you warm whinnies.

My daughter took me and her brother out for a nice sushi dinner tonight, for absolutely no reason at all other than she wanted to treat us to dinner. It was a very nice surprise. So I'm very thankful for having such a thoughtful daughter!

Thank you. You're welcome. Yes, it was, and unlike other days, it wasn't hard to accomplish. Some days it feels like a struggle just to get an hour of exercise. It was very good.

@FayeHazel I'm still not at my fitness goals for today, but I am doing well with the hourly goals. When I finish the notifications, I'll get my exercise and steps. Next week I know it will be impossible to get the steps and fitness goals, but I'll work on it as I can. Maybe I can get my 10K before surgery on Monday.

@just4him I feel you there. My goal , modestly enough, is (roughly) 30 minutes of exercise, 3 times a week OR meeting my step goal (which is current 6k steps) 3 times a week. Sometimes I have to force myself.

I'm losing cartilage. I know my knees are bone on bone. There's no cartilage left. I've been told the same happens with the vertebra.

Goodness, you're still shrinking. I wonder if I am shorter than I was. I do think I stoop a little more although I try to remember to stand up straight.

That was surprising. My son will definitely believe I'm a Hobbit now. I do my best to sit up straight. When I look at the illustration for the knee replacement, I hope I gain an inch back.

Sounds like a good day there getting your hot dog and them not charging to fix the issue at Autozone! I'm glad my grandpa got some answers; they have it narrowed down to 2 different things (although one is cancer)

I like your picture. Glad that your doctor appointment went good and you enjoyed a hot dog. Auto Zone is great in helping with quick fixes. I had them attach a windshield wiper about a month or so ago for me. I didn't want to come home and fight with it like last time. He made it look so simple. I'm thankful the rain from Sally held off so I could mow at the church and Mike made it to his mom's tonight before it started falling. I'm thankful our loved ones in Alabama and Florida are okay though they have no power. Have a blessed evening.

I'm glad they attached your windshield wiper. Yes, they make everything look easy. I'm glad you got the church mowed and Mike made it to his mom's before it started raining. I'm also glad your loved ones are safe.
