The beautiful Columbia River Gorge, just East of Portland Oregon

Usually I stop to pick blackberries and check out the lovely waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge when I take the "Northern" route home from Montana.
This photo (looking East) shows what it looked like as passed through. I think it was September 9. The waterfall parking lot was closed. The air was thick with the smell of smoke.
As I headed South on I-5, I saw all the signs signs saying that most of the secondary highways were closed. I later learned that parts of I-5 had been closed the day before. I was lucky.
Sorry to those on the East Coast and in Europe who are experiencing haze from all of our wildfires. We've been able to see some blue in the sky over the last couple of days. but it's still hazy here too.
Any haze where you are?

No haze as yet. However, in Northern India, when the summer crop (mainly rice) is harvested in late October/ Early November, stubble is burned a lot. And some of it is also done in some Pakistan areas.
The wind carries smoke and pollution from that.
Though there have been some steps in the recent years, it gets tough.
Yet the haze reaching Europe is very worrisome for the weather of the whole world.

There have had been steps by some state governments and NGOs.
Yet there are many who are not so co-operative and that does not helps.

There are variable fines plus cancelling licenses in case of any vehicle movements.
Yet implementation can be tough and riddled with corruption.
