Fish Fry Saturday

So, my mom will turn 70 on September 28th, so we are just trying to do something special for her.
The plan is to have her over on Saturday for a fish fry.
I always do a beer battered fish fry. So we will get some Tilapia or Swai, MAYBE some Cod, not sure yet, and fry that up.
I have some sticks of mozzarella I cut up from a big brick I had and will batter those up and fry them. Might do some mushrooms too. I will get a tub of cole slaw to have with it.
I am also going to make a batch of fried potatoes.
Should be good. This NEVER goes wrong.
This is my own recipe I made up. It took me several tries to get it right. But the one I have here is the one I eventually settled on and have used for several years.

@NJChicaa I actually find both tilapia and swai to be delicious. But I do like cod as well. I have always been fascinated by the opposition to farm raised fish. Everything else we eat is farm raised and the fishing industry has always been fraught with problems.

As I was reading and before I got to the fried potatoes I was thinking about how delicious the fish will be especially with fried potatoes and was thinking of suggesting them and you already had that idea. I miss my mom so very much and I remember that I threw her a surprise birthday party when she turned 70 so many years ago. A very Happy Birthday to your mom and many blessings. Have a great fish fry!

@1creekgirl Blech. Not a fish fry where I come from. It's horrible. But of course, to each their own, and that is only my opinion.

There is nothing better than a fish fry on a weekend to get you feeling good. Being a Southerner, it's a traditional thing here. Most of our fish fries involve catfish if it's a freshwater fish fry, or grouper and scallops if it is a saltwater fish fry. Anyway, hope you really enjoyed it and everything turned out great!

Oh wow, it all sounds so good! My family would never haha they hate fish, I'm the odd one out. Happy early birthday to her!
