If this fact is true than this must be the costliest mistake ever recorded. This is a story of a lady from England Coventry age 70 year's, who had a habbit of buying lottery tickets. She used to note the numbers and give the ticket to her husband to keep. On Oct 2010, $145,000,000 million dollars the biggest ever price in the history of England was declared. 8 Oct 2010 when the results were announced on the television the old lady realised that that the numbers matched her ticket. She asked her husband for the ticket so that they could claim, but husband stood still and speachless. The couples worst nightmare, the husband had thrown away the ticket in trash as always as she never had won any till date and thinking the same he had done that stupid act. I only can guess and never would like to be in how the lady must have felt that moment. I am not sure if this true but was told about this by a friend and have not found anything about this on the internet, if anyone of you have any idea please do let us know.

First of all, if the Lottery was in the UK it could not have been in dollars, so this story is fabricated.

@nitirrbb7 There is another thing that shows that the story is not true, how could they check the numbers to know they won if they had not the ticket?

@LadyDuck Actually the story says that the lady had a habit of keeping a note of the numbers before handing over the ticket to her husband. I guess she maintained a book of lottery numbers all the years so that she could guess which numbers could be next It could be because my grandfather had such habits he use to maintain numbers of lottery tickets to guess which could be next, even though he never won nothing more than a few pennies

@nitirrbb7 It's a good thing it's a false story. How awful would it be if it were true and the winning ticket was thrown away??? Thank you! I saw your comment on my son's house. There are many larger than his and many much smaller on his street and all over the US.
