Autumn joy sedum in Dustin's garden is almost at the final stage.
Have been watching it since spring. I actually saw a butterfly around it yesterday.
The burgundy color will be the final stage before it ends. Then the sedum will return in the spring.
Love those low maintenance perennials.
Enjoy this first day of October everyone.

I have always wondered what makes 1 sedum mature quicker then another.
I know that the hours of sunlight and protection from the wind plays a part, but I wonder if there is anything else.
Ours are still coming, but not out in full bloom just yet. We must have slow pokes.

don't'cha jest love the daily changes? 'lways awes me, the magic plants hold. i've been seein' various moths (migratin'?? search me), but 'tis been a while since i've seen a butterfly. e'en though there'd be nectar 'vailable fer 'em. the blue 'n red salvia's continue to blossom 's well's the cardinal flower vines.

@CarolDM what a blessin', these lil sanctuaries we build, eh? i've hopes the salvias 'll reseed prolifically since neither 'd be perennials. i could send ya some seed fer that cardinal vine, but ya'd not be happy. 'tis beautiful, but comes'p e'erywhere the next year. 'n i do mean e'erywhere, e'en here'n these arid parts. the hummers, bees'n butterflies love 't though.

@crazyhorseladycx Yes, I spend most of my life in these spots and would not have it any other way. I have heard that vine takes over, sort of like my honeysuckle. Thanks for the offer.

Mine is a pale pink and has variegated leaves. One of these days I will get the burgundy one as well. At the zoo it is obvious how much the butterflies appreciate it.
