Are the doctors telling the truth?

I just saw this when I opened my eMail.
POTUS and flotus TEST POSITIVE FOR covid-19.
I'm not going to ask if it's FAKE NEWS because the president tweeted about it.
... I'm wondering now if the doctors told a lie just so that the President wouldn't have to DEBATE BIDEN AGAIN BEFORE THE ELECTION!!!
That's an awfully convenient quarantine!!
My fellow Americans. Don't tell me that thought didn't cross your mind.
Trump lies. Why shouldn't I believe his doctor would lie for him?
Shortly before 1 AM ET on Friday morning, Donald Trump tweeted that both he and first lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19. On Thursday evening, Trump aide Hope Hicks, who had been traveling with Trump’s campaign this week, tested...

In fact it DID cross my mind. The Trump debate performance was not good in my opinion. Granted neither was Biden's. And this is coming from a very strong Trump supporter. If there was a way to keep Trump off stage maybe this was a way to do it, decided by his campaign people. THAT being said, I sincerely doubt that Trump would be okay with the "lie," considering the optics of his HAVING Covid would be worse than the debate performance considering what the American people's stance is on his direction with the disease.
It is an interesting development to say the least, and it will be interesting to see if the next debate is affected by this.

@porwest - I appreciate your comments and views. Since you said this the last news report I heard was the POTUS refuses a virtual debate. They are holding virtual assemblies for the United Nations, why can't we have virtual debates? It's an awesome technology! ALL political leaders should make use of technology to reach the masses. That's why John Kennedy used the television. That was the technology of the day!
Everybody is doing stuff virtual these days anyway! I don't see why the debate can't be virtual. It's still an American institution; an integral part of the democratic process. When I was a kid there was just the Bible in print. Now I can go on the Internet, put a word in the search engine box, and pull up several scriptures. Technology can be extremely useful. Nobody predicted a pandemic. Nevertheless, it's here and we still need to carry on!

@cmoneyspinner I think the key factor here that a lot of people tend to miss is HOW biased the media is. And of course the QUESTIONS will be biased as well. The interactions will be biased also. I think we have reached a point in this country where the media is just downright dysfunctional and downright left, and has no interest in actually letting (especially the president) get his message out. What the media wants is to TRAP the president and bait the opponent into delivering a message the media wants heard.
I think this has more to do with Trump's refusal than the method. I think if things were different, if things were more fair, the president may be more willing to participate. But here's the thing. We have ALL SORTS of technology that either party can get their message out as well, and Trump simply figures it might be in his best interest to speak DIRECTLY to the American people on other platforms than to allow the media to SHAPE and BEND and DISTORT what message THEY want to extend to the American people and portray as the truth.
They misrepresent so many views. The media. For example, IF president Trump says he supports the police, suddenly THEY say, "See? He's a racist who supports police brutality." And that's the way they will shape their questions. Suddenly Trump uses all his time refuting a false claim instead of being able to explain what he actually is saying.
The debates are as much a game as anything anymore, and I am not sure they are really all that useful when you have a very dishonest media.

@porwest -The debates are NOT a game. The debates are an American institution. It is the one time that we can hear “both sides”. It has nothing to do with media manipulation because these candidates are speaking with their own mouths and Americans are listening.
Therefore, since they kept talking over each other in the last debate, I personally think a virtual debate would be better.
After that last debate I thought to myself: Why not put the same questions to each person and allow them to answer UNINTERRUPTED? Play their FULL responses side-by-side and let the public hear the different points of view.
You can't even have a regular private conversation and settle a matter if both parties keep talking over each other. That's in private. But these are people have to address matters on a public stage that could very well impact the world stage. It is only right and fair for AMERICANS TO HEAR THEM OUT! To completely know what each candidate intends to do to move this narion FORWARD. Make it great again OR Build it back back better. The point is you have to have a plan to do that. So let the Americans hear it. WHAT'S THE PLAN? Which way do you intend to lead the country?
Not only do the American citizens want to know. Foreigners want to know too!
I CAN NOT HEAR IF BOTH PEOPLE KEEP TALKING OVER EACH OTHER.
Sure! I suppose I could visit their official websites. But it is much more compelling and convincing when it comes right out of the person's mouth. Because when a person opens their mouth … they're either going to LIE or they're going to speak the TRUTH. They are going to tell you what they aim to do OR they are not going to reveal their true intentions and say what they think you want to hear so you will VOTE FOR THEM.
If you, the Candidate, feel confident and right about what you're doing, then you don't need to drown out the other candidate as if their words don't matter. WHY? Because their words won't be able to stand up to yours UNDER SCRUTINY!
ALL Candidates for the Oval Office need to give Americans some credit for being intelligent enough to listen clearly to both sides and make a judgment on their own.
By the way, Trump is the one who started this nonsense about FAKE NEWS (“media bias”) and ELECTION RIGGING. BEFORE Trump, most Americans already knew you can't believe everything you read or hear. The majority of Americans were never stupid or gullible enough to believe everything that was put in front of them. But they made their own judgment about it. Trump is the one who decided if the media does not portray him in a good light and as a person who does everything right … then it's FAKE! FAKE? Says who? Says HIM!! He demands to tell you what you can and can not believe … as if … you can't figure it out on your own! You just need to take his word for it. WHY? Did I lose my my mind, my intelligent reasoning, and my thought process? Do I need him to think for me? Does Trump really think I can't tell the difference between what's FAKE and what's REAL? Maybe there are people who need him to make that distinction for them. But I'm not one of them! I think for myself.
Fact is I don't like Trump or Biden. But I do love my country. It takes more than one person to make this country stand. It takes all of US. WE NEED OPEN AND FREE DEBATE AND DISCUSSION!! Beginning with presidents and presidential contenders, all the way down to the lowliest janitor who sweeps the streets or the homeless who live on the streets. IT IS CRUCIAL TO OUR DEMOCRACY AND OUR FREEDOM!

I think he does have COVID-19...he has not been wearing a mask and does not practice social distancing. We'll see what happens about the debates. I actually found them entertaining....not!

That debate gave me a headache. I couldn't watch it all the way. I turned off the TV. It was so bad that I don't even want to listen to the Pence-Harris debate.

@cmoneyspinner I'm going to watch the VP debate and any other debates that are on. They just cement the choice that I've already made! I think they will use microphones that can be muted with the next debates.

I was wondering what was gonna happen with his next presidential debate... I doubt they'd cancel. Maybe it'd be virtual.
I was kinda shocked when I heard the news about him and Melania testing positive. Thought maybe it was fake news at first...

I don´t trust too much news anymore. But much as I´m not at all happy about the possibility of presidentTrump to be reelected, I hope he gets healthy again.

I had a similar thought, but in another direction. Trump isn’t well-liked by the “establishment” in Washington, so what better way to keep him out of the public eye and away from debates and rallies than to tell him he tested positive for COVID?
