Eating fewer carbs

I know people who are having good success eating fewer carbs. I have also read about the KETO diet, but I cannot be that strict.
I really LIKE bread, but it is not that good for me, so I will be trying new recipes. This morning I got up and made three recipes of a keto bread. It has no grains in it, and no sugar. You make it in the microwave in a mug. It has coconut flour and almond flour in it.
I plan to have soups for some of my meals this week. This high protein "bread" will be nice on the side. I had a piece with my scrambled egg this morning.
I have to make high calorie foods for hubby and think about feeding him all the time. I think it is time I think about my food as well. I just need to resist eating what I prepare for him.
I cannot leave out all the carbs like the Keto diet suggests. I will have beans this week at least once. Last night, for supper, I had a larger hamburger patty with cheese, and had pickled beets on the side. I just need to eat sensibly.
I can eat fewer processed foods.
I appear to be getting slimmer since I have gone back to work. I hope that is a continuing trend.

I started keto July of 2019. I have had success on it. After 15 months I am down 77 pounds. I reached my current weight in August and have maintained. I still want to lose 10 more pounds and will tweak my diet a bit. I noticed very early on that I have more energy on keto. I have bread that has no carbs and pasta with low carbs that I use. I get lots of exercise too. I wish you good luck

Both our body and our brains need to have some carbs.

@LadyDuck When you eliminate a group of foods you automatically cut calories.

@GardenGerty Absolutely, years ago I followed a diet that banned all fats and it worked very well too. I think that all diets work (almost all) if you follow them seriously.

Yes, they are. I only use a tablespoon of each to make a mug of bread and you cut it into four pieces. Reminds me of English muffins.

I just need to cut back some on bread, or grains, I think. It is a blood sugar issue as much as a weight issue. I walk a lot at work and get up and down from the floor.

@DianneN I like good, multi grain bread just a little too much.

I like really good, flavorful bread. I like baked potatoes and all that goes with them.

@Courtlynn That would have suited my mom. To her, and her sister, a good loaf of Wonder Bread was tops.

I am not able to do it, either, but some of the recipes are good.

@sophie09 Probably not. No one diet is right for everyone. Best to just eat lots of veggies a little meat and limit refined starches.

I have never been a fan of bread or carbs in general.
I have some coconut flour but I rarely use it as I haven't any good recipes for it.
Instead of having sandwiches have you ever considered using soft tortilla shells and having wraps?
We have been doing that for years, I eat a lot less sandwich type of things as a result.
Just a suggestion.

With winter here we will do fewer sandwiches. Yes, I keep flour tortillas on hand, but they are somewhat high in carbs. I also buy "sandwich slims" to use instead.

I could not really afford it. I eat a lot of beans and they are not on that diet.

I cut out most carbs for about a year and lost 20 pounds fairly easily. It can be worth it. Now I mostly just watch my calories more than I used to and am staying the same.

those processed foods 're killers, so i hope ya eliminate 's many 'f those's ya can, hon. keto 'tis fine fer the short term, but'cha need to get'cher vitamin/minerals checked oft. very easy to throw yer system completely out'ta whack. ick'n the coconut flour, but glad ya 'njoyed those mug breads.
yepperz, gotta take better care 'f yerself 'r ya aint gonna be able to take care 'f the hubs. i can 'mpathize with the diff'rent meals. the hubs'll not touch anythin' that's gluten free 'n i cannot partake'n 95% 'f what he consumes. which really ticks him off, but i prefer not to be ill.
i reckon since yer back 't work yer movin' more'n not snackin' throughout the day??

Yes, moving more and not snacking. Not really even wanting a snack. I take leftovers for meals mostly and have good portion control. This is all good until the principal buys candy or treats and comes around to give them to us. The single serving treat is not bad, but open bags of candy are my downfall. I stay out of the break room.
