Apparently I Have a Cooking Bra

A couple of days ago, Little Miss woke from her slumber and meandered into the living room. She climbed up into the recliner and told me that she saw my cooking bra. I was a bit confused as to what she spied so I asked her where she saw it. She pointed to the back of the chair.
On the back of the chair was my blue apron. I tossed it there the night before after I cleaned up the kitchen. Yes, I wear an apron, have done so for over 35 years. Well, I did chuckle over her statement. Told her that it wasn't a cooking bra, it was an apron. She also chuckled.
Do you own a cooking bra?

I tend to always get something on the front of my clothes no matter how hard I try not to.

@ElusiveButterfly Since I am sucking at doing things in the kitchen, it also happens to me.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I was wondering if you had a bra for different things. Now, I understand it is an apron. I have an apron but have not used it in ages.

I am going to make some aprons to replace the tattered ones that I use now. Love my aprons.

Even if I try really hard not to get anything on me, I manage somehow to get a spot or 10!

I know that it's hard not to get anything on me when I prepare a tomato sauce, or I fry something.

I am going to make a patchwork apron from the scraps of fabric I have leftover from masks. I have a lot of it so I should be able to come up with something.

I guess it is personal preference. I wore one when I was at a client's house too. When they were asked who they had for an aide, they would tell them I wore an apron and they immediately knew it was me.

That is funny... never heard that one before. I think that I would have to go back a couple of generations now that I think about it. Nanny always wore an apron...

If I am cooking when it is really hot inside, I will opt for older clothes that have already been stained. Way too hot sometimes to add another layer!!

Yes, and it has a matching oven mitt, But, although I cook and bake from scratch a lot, I rarely use it. It's print is a wintery scene of cardinals, and a woman I have known since we were in the Brownies together (1973) made it for me. So, I tend to only take it out during the holiday season.

What a nice gift!! I started wearing them when my children were young. I baked quite a bit back then. Weekends were spent baking for the week.
I have a holiday one that I wear at Christmas. But it is not thick enough to keep any splatters from soaking through to my clothing.

I think I still have a few in the drawer but I don't use them anymore, mostly because I don't cook in "good" clothes.

I wear them whenever I cook. The exception to that is when I make sandwiches for a meal.
