Alarming news are breaking, CoViD-19 cases spiking again and countries are gearing down for mandatory lockdowns. Remember - the coronavirus still lurks. No one is immune. Take heed. The repercussion is death. We only have one life to live. If you want to see an end to this pandemic 2020, stay home, wear mask, sanitize, keep healthy. No such thing as herd immunity.
Global healthy policy expert Dr. Vin Gupta, Morgan State University professor Jason Johnson and health policy analyst Laurie Garrett speak to the dangers of ...

It’s a risky way to get immunity. My doctor said that to me about herd immunity. It is true that is one way to find immunity from a disease. When almost everyone is infected and gets immunity the few uninfected ones will be protected by those that survive from it. Eventually the disease will not be able to infect as they have less victims to infect anymore. But this method may have more casualties as only those with strong immune system will be able to overcome the disease.

@eileenleyva That is why it’s risky to adopt that especially with the nature of the virus being so infectious. Although we somehow are kind of practicing it like what the government is doing when they to open up the economy they are somehow doing the herd immunity trying to expose the population little by little those ages that are most likely to survive it then if they reach certain levels they would restrict to allow the infected population to recover. From it they can extract more plasma to offer to the next wave more protection when another batch gets infected.

That is a surprising explanation considering science has not defined definitively the nature of the virus. I will check. Thanks for telling.

You are right, no one is immune. In Italy many who already had Covid are now re-contaminated... her immunity is a hoax.

A medical expert has even deemed herd immunity tantamount to mass murder.

@LadyDuck Yup. Herd immunity is extremely dangerous. News has it Europe and the United Kingdom have sounded the alarm - heightened safety measures like mandatory lockdown. Humans de need to keep distance from one another.

Herd immunity is definitely a thing. If enough people are immune to a disease then it will often limited the diseases spread and help protect those who aren’t immune. Though that is risky when we know so little about Covid. We have no idea how long the immunity lasts so thousands may die for nothing.

Does that mean you agree in putting your loved ones and friends and your self at risk of dying?

The problem is people are out of money and that's why they step outside and after that don't follow the guidelines about the mask and hand sanitizer

That is true. And if those people die, then there is no more money problem for them.

@eileenleyva But the survival rate is 99%. Therefore more people will suffer the economic woe than will die from the disease.

One too many countries are so stubborn that the arrogant leaders and citizens prolong the pandemic. The ineptitude is infuriating. This includes my country. If only everyone heeded to the advisement at once, we could have ended the spread of the disease sooner. Our travails would have been eased. The second wave rendered humans completely pathetic. History has given us important lessons already. We are just too stubborn to learn. Sigh.

I am not counting on herd immunity since the virus is already developing and changing DNA and former victims get infected again by a new variation of it. Too risky... The best would be to not catch it at all but that depends on common sense in people and I am pretty d*rn sure most have lost it ;-)

Herd immunity wouldn't work because it infects people in many different ways.

Herd immunity is actually a scientific proven fact. As for lockdowns, the WHO has come out and spoke out AGAINST lockdowns. The only way we get through this is by exposing more people TO it. It has been proven by the numbers that it is not a very deadly disease at all. But of course you will disagree. But do the math. It will tell you all you need to know. Or must I define the word "math" for you? lol

Since the beginning of this, my wife and I have been doing what we can to protect ourselves. As people who are in the higher risks group, it is what we must do regardless. What our government is doing, in effect forcing the herd immunity theory upon the population is not just wrong, it is immoral. Even if the larger section of the population does get the virus and survive, there is no science that says the immunity will remain for any length of time and in fact, we are already seeing examples of people who have been infected twice within a six-month period. Granted there is only a handful who are verified (having been reinfected) at this point. Some people like to compare Covid 19 to the flu: with the flu, once someone is infected their immunity will last a finite period, about six months. No one knows for sure what this Covid 19 will be like in the coming years and trying to depend on herd immunity is like saying it's okay for hundreds of thousands to die each year. That is really a shame when simple steps, masks, sanitizing, and distancing will better help protect us all. Thank you for bringing this subject up. It certainly needs to be said. Oh, and to those who think the flu is more deadly, Think again. I've read that this pandemic has already killed more people here in the US than the last five flu seasons combined. check this out:

@eileenleyva It's like natural selection, don't be too afraid or too brave. I think everyone has caught this epidemic, do you believe it too. The government implements all of these regulations to prevent overloading of work, especially the front guard.

It is not safe yet to get out and mingle with people like we used to. The contagion is still out there.
