Tom Price; in northern Western Australia; is a mining town and was originally set up by Rio Tinto specifically for its employees. The town was named after Thomas Moore Price, who worked for the American Company, Kaiser Steel. Tom Price, the town, regularly features as one of WA’s hottest towns.
Price worked tirelessly to convince mining companies as well as State and Federal governments that the area was worth further investigation. In 1962, Moore returned to America. Two hours after being informed of the discovery of a very rich ore deposit, he died of a heart attack at the age of 71.
When Rio Tinto first established the town, if you didn’t work in the mines, you couldn’t live there. Later our guide told us the town was sold to Ashburton Shire for $1. Schools, businesses and recreational facilities soon became established.
The sculptures are in a mall in the main shopping area.

Those are beautiful sculptures.Getting such a rich town for $1... That's a great deal.
I won't appreciate having a town only for people working in mining. That would be boring. We need varieties in life and city.

Here in the US, they used to have mining towns too. Eventually most became ghost towns.

I thought so too. I didn't think the standing kangaroo was as good as the others.

Very great things to display in the public space.
Firstly without seeing the title, I thought it's real animal :-)
The sculptor created them perfectly -

It seemed a nice town. On the tour we did of the Rio Tinto mine, a mine engineer took his wife and child on the tour so they could see where he worked. Security was really tight. There was no way he could just waltz in with the family in tow.
